Yes you double clutch it is better for the synchronization, it is pretty simple. I know someone who drove a long time and he says he rarely floated a gear and if you are clutching right the clutch does not go out that often either. He said in all his years and mile he replaced a clutch 2 times and that is after someone else had driven the truck and messed it up.

All kinds of opinions on it, I like it, it is simple and 2nd nature now when I don't do it I always catch myself.

    BIGLOU52 Thanks this.

    Hey, CAGEtrucker & Warpdrvr
Thanks for the info, I was trained to double clutch in trucking school.
So does W/S have Auto shift trucks.

BL52, Yes, WS does have some auto shift trucks. I was just taken out of mine as it needed a lot of work done on it. It was getting caught between 4th and 5th, and between 9th and 10th. Eventually it would shift back down then up into the correct gear, but I was always worried it would strand me in the middle of an intersection or something.....
Although they don't like to put brand new drivers in the auto shifts, I was given mine directy out of orientation. I started getting used to it and was nervous about having to eventually go to a manual shift truck. I have to say now that those fears were unfounded as after a day or 2, I was very comfortable shifting again. It's like riding a bike I suppose....

If you are looking at WS as a place to work, I think you could do much worse...although your location is listed as Florida, and unless you are 120 miles or so from the termial we can't hire....We have a terminal in Dalton, GA and one in Conover, NC.

    Good luck!

    wulfman75 and BIGLOU52 Thank this.

Who is "we" Warp? Are you in recruiting now? Just giving you a hard time... For what it's worth I know there are driver who live well outside their home terminal radius of 120 miles.
