So it is best to hold their belt loop and offer to wash their socks?
    .

So do a shag load and start your 14 because you are cheaper then having a local driver do it? and they will rub your back? That works about half the time in my experience. The other half of the time you just end up at the bottom of the load board.
You are right. You will be a star at your average OTR carrier if you make the planners job easier by violating Fed Law and getting it there when it is scheduled versus when it is legal. But who pays the ticket, gets shut down, or gets fired for being so willing to role over and play tricks for dispatchers? That would be the driver.:biggrin_2552:
He did figure it out. He deduced it was not worth it to drive illegal to Miami and took a break and was probably rolling again while you where on a dock.
Yea I was one of those guys. Got tired of playing the dispatcher safety game and exercise some common sense and got out of driving OTR. Have not had to falsify my logs or say no since.:biggrin_25525:

    Big Blue19,
You are my hero. What you said is my point exactly. The game is rigged and you don't have a joker if you are a driver in this industry.

I figured that out the first week I was driving. I spent the other 15 trying to prove myself wrong. What's your excuse?

There are alot of problems in trucking now.... maybe, in a few years it will be a good occupation for a NEW driver starting up?

You both have good points, but one of you started trucking 14 years ago, and the other's are going into a new career when the economy is "down the tubes"

I hope everyone is working ,and making alot of money this time next year, Hopefully, we will be arguing over the next political hoopla... Instead of chewing each other up.... I am guilty of this, and will be guilty again. I just hope my heart is soft enough to change.

    be safe

What do you mean could not make it? Is it some test of manhood for you or what? To me my friend when you no longer have to be a OTR driver you have made it. It is just not a lifestyle I need to chose anymore. I mean are you seriously going to claim you are superior to me because you choose to live in a space smaller then a jail cell for weeks at a time and I don't? Well then I guess you win. LOL

I never sat on my daddy's knee watching big rigs go by and wishing I could drive one some day. I don't come from a trucking family nor do I get teary eyed watching Convoy. When I started driving a truck it was simply a means for me to save money quickly to buy a house. I put everything in storage and went on the road and saved every penny I had. To this day I can't eat a PBJ or Bologna sandwich anymore.

Now that I have set myself up pretty good for my future I really see no benefit in paying money to live in a house a few times a month. I am one of those people that actually like using what I pay for, instead of walking around terminals showing off pictures of what I have back home that I hardly ever use.

If you want to be on the road for the next 40 years thats fine with me. But for me it's just not something I will do anymore if I don't need to.

    Drive-a-Mack Thanks this.
