I would say yes in normal times you would be able to as long as you kept a SPOTLESS record and kept your Dac clean you could find a decent paying job. Today's times will change trucking forever, so I really don't think looking that far ahead will do much good...sorry to say. :biggrin_25526:

Is that for the 670 or the 780? You would also have to polish off the magnifying glass for all the small print I would suspect.
That's the best way to do it. Save money and put a down on a used truck and then lease it on to a company and hire the paperwork out so you will be free to run.

There is no reason to starve and become homeless to become able to work for any corrupt company in a corrupt industry. If you cannot make as much money as you are willing to work for, why would you put on a saddle to be ridden by a company that couldn't care less what happens to you? This is not a regular 9 to 5 job where you can have a life. This is a lifestyle that is all consuming as long as you commit to it. If you commit to do this life, the reward must be commensurate with that commitment or it is not a viable life choice unless you are a masochist.

Isn't it amazing that they advertise they need drivers, get you there, put you through orientation, hire you, and then don't have a truck? That is, unless you get conned into the lease? Then trucks magically appear?

What a deal! Basically starve their new hires into lease purchases.

That's exactly why I got out of the OTR for the most part. The reward was not commensurate with my commitment. Though companies have restructured to make it less of a lifestyle choice over the years I have been driving. I just did not see me as a driver being rewarded for my experience and commitment to the lifestyle. It always seemed to be what have you done for me lately.

Many drivers are like me and don't play well with others or want to sit in a cubicle anymore and saw the freedom and independence that driving OTR used to bring. Now with everything a driver does being scrutinized without any consideration for a persons record of performance it just became a headache and not worth the sacrifice.

For me the lack of flexibility in the hours of service when faced with income based on a piece rate told me to seek out other opportunities.

Now I have to play well with others but I don't feel like jumping out of my rig while it goes over a cliff either.:biggrin_255:
