Not to argue with anyone, but Sherman and others are not educated enough to be able to look at a circuit and see the flaws. This is why they are techs, not engineers.
Those meters are not considered anything but a general indicator, there lacks linearity with the meter circuit in almost every radio and doesn't compensate for the load.
My 200W linear doesnt seem to make a change

On that note, touche. Again my comment was not implying that you were incorrect or I was right. I did not feel like you were arguing. We are simply sing a discussion. Contrary to the belief of some or many... I think these types of exchanges are very important. I'm not afraid to say I don't know everything. Judging by some of your previous replies, you have a pretty firm grasp on the subject.

Well here is the thing about me, im old, and crabby on the internet, so everything I write is blunt and sometimes mean. My drivers will tell you that Im opposite to that old crabby prick that appears on th internet.
When I have a dialog with someone who may need another point of view, it seems to stick in their head better if you push back or opposed their thinking to show them the other side of things.Slowmover1 and _33 Thank this. -
Those meters are more accurate than most of the abilities trying to tune the antenna

And they are calibrated. Ridgeline said it best so I'll quote him here:
"Those meters are not considered anything but a general indicator, there lacks linearity with the meter circuit in almost every radio and doesn't compensate for the load."
I can think of a specific individual you mentioned that is an engineer wrongly being called a tech.
Techs turn screws and follow service manuals and blame the manufacturer for building junk.
Engineers remove half the components And reengineer the entire radio and force it to do what they want it to do regardless of what the manufacturer intended or regardless of what "techs" thought was possible.

oh please, an engineer isn't a tech, a tech can rebuild things too. a CB tech is just a screw driver turner.
I have yet seen anyone who had reengineered an entire radio who isn't educated and experienced. -
Neither have I, so I guess that means you're making assumptions about someone's education or experience.
-
yep an assumption because no one seems to be able to explain what they do, too many arrogant pricks who think they know everything calling themselves CB techs.Slowmover1 and rabbiporkchop Thank this.
