Idk why pepper's being so negative he's guessing at what we're doing over here. As for home time, I'm home almost every weekend and clearing $1200 or more after I stash uncle sam's take. My oldest boy rides with me all summer, I pick every single load that I put on my deck. I take time off anytime I feel like it. I run how and when I see fit. you're not gonna find a company job that allows those perks. And I've had regional, dedicated, otr, and local jobs in my career. This has been the best decision I've made in my career and someone being salty won't change that fact.

You guys have a good thing going on over at Malone. I would do it myself except for two things. I don't like heights. I can't carry a two hundred pound tarp up a ladder.

Very rare that you'll ever carry a tarp up a ladder...generally the loader will sit your tarps on top of the load for you...

Even if you did a rope tied to the tarp climb up and pull it up behind you.

If the forklift is too ignorant to set an 8' tarp up there I will either lift it over my head if I can reach the top or tell them take the product off my truck and kiss my $&&

Ha ha ha I made the oversized delivery a day early too with no incidents cleared the GA and FL scales. Special thanks to Morgan a fellow flatbed who showed me the ropes at a truck stop the then told me to go get the Oversize book and read it, which I did. I love flatbed. Hey Playa I took one of your advice "to do things most others won't do"

Any idea what the WLL (Working Load Limit) of those ropes were?

    I kid, I kid.

Congratulations for you first successful OS load. Now you won't be apprehensive about the next one.

Haha, these are about 2 of the only things I'm not too worried about as I used to be a roofing project manager. Everything else, I'm nervous as can be.
I'm starting orientation Monday the 22nd and really looking forward to the challenge. Delivering my last van load in the morning with my soon to be former company then they remove the Elogs and I'm off to Oklahoma City. Is the securement training pretty thorough? I'm already looking through the FMCSA guide but the hands on stuff is gonna be crucial. Also, gonna start off renting a trailer. Do they have any boxes for storage already? I'm gonna need space and that will be really helpful.

    Glad it worked out!!

I haven't experienced the securement training in OKC but haven't heard anything bad about it. You'll learn a lot. And be given a DOT securement book that has the majority of the loads we haul in it. It's good info. You'll have a head board, and a trailer box between the spread for storage.
