In Nevada, I've met an Australian from Australia (not a Canadian citizen) driving a Canadian truck legally (so he said). Apparently, Canada has some work programs for truckers from other Commonwealth countries. If he didn't lie, that would be your best bet. Also, I've met illegal immigrants (Europeans) having legal CDLs and driving trucks in USA. Usually, it involves overstaying your visa and relying on ethnic communities (in certain states) to secure a CDL (as well as ethnic trucking companies that do thorough background checks on you). That would be difficult in your case. As people said, marrying large-and-in-charge, you-have-two- hands-do-it-yourself American gal would be your another option (it's a steep price to pay for your dream).

bullhaulerswife and d o g Thank this. -
There are many Aussies over here driving, don't know how they did it. Since you're coming over, settle in a state with no personal income tax; there are 9 of them to choose from. Texas and Nevada are two good states for truckers. Las Vegas, Nevada has more year round better weather than Reno, Nevada. Texas is very good for truckers; some good cities are Dallas/Ft. Worth, Houston, Laredo.
