Yes that is what they say on there web site but they will hire newbies from the school I am going to. They don't hire many but they do hire a few. I belive they only hire us newbies from a few select schools.
-
Where did you go to school?
-
You should keep on posting on this thread about your experience with Colonial Freight Systems once you start working for them, TeachMe. I'd like to hear more about the company. Good luck and stay safe!
-
I am going to Alliance Tractor Trailer school in Arden NC. Thanks Ohio I plan on keeping everyone posted as long as someone is interested.
-
Sounds good! I'll be watching.
-
Yea, I'll be watchin too. I want to see if they actually live up to their ads. For your sake I hope they do and it turns out to be great for you. Good Luck and be safe out there.

I just started with USF GM this week and was at orientation with a 17 year veteran trucker that left Colonial after three months. He tried the lease thing with them and said he couldn't afford to keep working for them and that they had told him things that did not work out the way they had told him they would. Maybe it was just his experience that was bad but be leary of what you hear and get it in writing if you can.

MorrisGray, Maybe as I've said before it did'nt work for him, but who knows it might work out great for someone else. That's the good thing about the industry. If someplace don't work for you go somewhere else and try again. I don't recommend job hopping but sometimes you don't have a choice. Peoples lives are so different today you have to get a job that works for you! Back when I owned a few trucks and someone came to me for a job, if they had more than 3 jobs in 5 years I would'nt even consider them. Nowadays you almost have to give them a chance barring any accidents or something of that nature. If your lucky your first drivin job fits well enough to get sometime in before lookin around for something else.
-
I am also thinking about going with them. I get out of school in about a month and if you work hard there is a lot of money to be made with them. They were pretty strait with me and told me if I wanted to run 6-7 days a week $1500+ a week was not out of the question. Being able to pick your loads puts the ball in your court. I don't know. I have been searching high and low to find something bad about them and so far I haven't found anything.
