That is not necessarily true about automatics some people just have an irrational dislike for all things automatic. If you can drive a manual you can drive a manual. If you go to a good training program you get plenty of time driving a manual and you take your driving test on one. At that point YOU decide where your skill level is if you feel like you have it down there is no harm in driving an auto you won't forget it. Chances are though if you are new to trucking there is almost no way you will have shifting completely down over the course of a 5 week training program.

I have heard other drivers state they thought that as well, though I have not talked to any prior Pam driver that said they have had problems landing a job because of it. Schneider runs a bit of every thing; in fact they have a training program, videos, etc, for drivers that have ONLY DRIVEN MANUALS.
US Express is heavily auto based from what I have heard.
I've never driven auto except to try out on simulator. -
