When you start driving for an employer you will be blamed for everything even the dispatches with misspelled business names and no/or wrong physical delivery address!
You will do fine, just see to it you find fun things to do on your off duty time so you don’t end up developing them trademark pouty trucker lips that you see hanging around the truck stops.
And dont be afraid to ask an old guy a few questions, we might look pretty awnery but thats just a natural defense mechanism that is developed over the years of dealing with whiners!Chinatown Thanks this. -
I did run in to a OTR guy the other day, he was getting ready to leave for 14 days out, this guy just wanted to talk and talk I think he was starved for someone to talk to. Nice guy and gave me a lot of helpful info.
DoubleO7 and Canned Spam Thank this. -

I have taken all the CDL written test for my permit. Start driving next Saturday.
-
Most schools require the permit before wasting time on people who cannot learn at least that much... Its a waste of valuable training time and money on endorsements and a permit that if you have day one, the students can go to work learning skills. I have seen schools work both ways. Most of the time the better and even barely average students are stuck waiting for a few troglodytes to finish their permit process and or have to be bothered by them when they have to sit a wait while the instructors go over the same material that they successfully completed days ago.

LOL, those JJ Keller videos ain't cheap. Bear with it and get the seat time.
In orientation we had to watch this video:
I pointed out to our lead orientation guy that from about 4:30 to 4:35 the driver is doing something unsafe.
He was not pleased with me. Answer was, that's the video we have.
Really? So you got no problem with me getting out of the truck before its stopped? Cool!
LOL, even less pleased after that. -
That's a super trucker! -
mainly in that in most other industries if your boss makes you do something they get in trouble, in truck driving YOU do.
It's sad, but as others said this is only a preview of things to come, you'll have to learn how to push shippers and dispatchers who will ask you to do illegal things, how to push customers who don't want to unload you before your clocks run out and won't let you sleep there, etc etc etc.
in many way you'll have to learn to be the bigger ####### sometimes. sometimes you'll just have to quietly do things the right way and let the higher ups be wrong.
so really you can push the school really hard, or just ignore them and know you can't trust them. -
There really isn't much about training that's gonna make sense to you.
Play the game, get your license, play the game again, get your own truck and be done with it all.
