You can do a couple of things here.
1, Sit down with the guy and explain to him that you feel unsafe when he does those things, to include messing with the QC, no threats just 2 adults talking to one another.
2. Call you FM and explain to him what is going on, but only does this after talking to your trainer, nd tell him you feel unsafe.
3. Stick it out till you are driving the truck all the time, you should be doing that within 5 days, if your trainer does it right.
Once you upgrade get another trainer also, unless things change, but then you have to get used to the new guy.
DO NOT leave the truck while you are on the road like some has suggested. Prime WILL consider that you abandoned the truck, unless you have proof, other than your own word, that you were doing it for your own saftey. And you had better have talked to your FM before you do that.
Hope this helps

It is important to realize that all trainees need to take an active role in how they are being trained.. while I understand there are some very poor trainers out there.. there are also many poor trainees..
Don't take a passive role in your training.. be proacrive.. you have to talk with and communicate with your trainer.. talk with them about your training.. you should have with you a note book and some pens.. make sure you know what the day holds for you..
You should know how much time you will be in the seat driving today.. you should know what you will be doing in the morning, afternoon, evening..
I don't know if you have ever been in a position where you had to train someone.. I have and just like not all trainers are the same, so is true of trainees....
Some trainees made easy for me to be a good trainer.. while with others I struggled..
When I was training people (not to drive, different job) a trainees that was active and engaged got better training.. while those that just sat back and didn't engage.. well we just went through the motions..
If right now you do not know what you will be doing for the next 4 hours and the 4 hours after that.. then you are not being active In your training.. and if you don't care.. why should he..Wharf Rat Thanks this. -
Our load was/still is Joplin, MO to Maryland.. so haven't had time to do anything except drive down the road. We didn't even do shifting training at the shifting pad before leaving Springfield. I've driven today which was great..he knows I Want to practice downshifting so hopefully we do that after delivering tomorrow.
BTW I didn't take that video.. -
and you did what?
just sat there?
how about telling him not to do these kind of cr*p instead of writing here?
you know that he's risking not only his life and others on the road, but yours as well. -
Maybe its not as bad as it sounds because why else would you wanna continue with this trainer.
-
An Excellent way to get shifting training is to use the off Ramps, not only do you get practice down shifting, but you also get the approach training. Then you get upshifting training going up the onramp. Might be hard back east though as the ramps are set up differently. When I had a trainee on board, my 1st load was always west on I-44 and then on I-40. If my trainee did not get any shifting training at Springfield, then we did it using the ramps.
Hope this helps you. -
What I suggested as far as getting A hotel is talk to the company first.I should have said that in one of my post. Most will be more then happy to grant your request.Of course not just up and get out because then your room and possibly way home because you didn't ask company first is your dime not the companies.

*facepalm* what's next? Let the dm control the truck from his comfy cubicle? You know that they know that they're getting crap excuse for drivers when they have to do more and more to "help out" the driver.
