It isn't about the money, I can pay cash for another program, But primes benefits were slightly better and the pay starts off higher than any other company I've seen if you don't mind driving lightweight trucks, so I figured if it didn't work out at least I would have my cdl. But I do intend to stay with my first company a year because it will look better on my work history than 3 months at every place that will take me, so the year contract isn't a big deal to me.
Anyway It's getting better... I'm getting lots of driving time. I drove all the hours we moved yesterday. Would be nice to have an hour set aside everyday for just skills practice though.. although I will admit learning about the scales and stuff is helpful. Still, most places teach you all that in the orientation phase (the equivalent of tnt).

I don't plan on doing anything to jeopardize my ability to get on with a top tier company some day and getting a ticket or getting in a wreck because i don't want to take five minutes to pull over and read my Atlas sounds like a stupid idea to me. But I know, I'm too new to make such a bold statement. Lol
Truckergirl0720 Thanks this. -
Exactly!!!!! Wait till your in the middle of a city. Your list and u can't pull over!!! There were a lot of things I said nooo way I'll do that and before it was over I realized it can be done a smart way!

Another question.. I was looking up something regarding pre and post trip inspections and it says we are supposed to be doing a written daily report? We've never been told about this unless its in the threering binder we had thrown at us the last day of class with no instructions and my trainer has never once done one... Does this Not apply to me?
-NEWBIE ^_^ -
Also my instructor doesn't have any fuses and told me Not to worry about it just say they are with the reflectors... But the instructor, who Also performs the test, says he asks to see them sometimes. ### So should I care or Not

Most carriers want a minimum of a year, and many small carriers cant insure you without two or more years experience.
Students always want to run before they can walk. You're getting intensive instruction in how to operate, drive and maneuver a big truck safely. TnT is all about "skills practice."
No one is asking you to do anything dangerous. We'd prefer that inexperienced drivers pull over to consult an atlas or QC.Truckergirl0720 Thanks this. -
It's a QC macro your instructor does daily. Use of the QC is covered in TnT. Learn to drive the truck.
He should. An assortment costs $5 at the truckstop. -
Haha, that is funny. Pulling over is always available, I love it when students know how it is.Truckergirl0720 Thanks this.

Thanks. I ask about the post trip because if It's something I'm supposed to have when I'm driving then I have nothing to show... I am just covering my butt.

There's a copy in the outbox. As long as it got sent. Quit worrying about stuff that's your instructors job. Learn to drive the truck.
