Today our instructer gave us a mock road test and graded us like the DMV would. It was different roads from the road test but we were told the turns we took would be much like the same type that we would on the road test. I made a few mental mistakes that cost me some points but I passed with a little room to play. So I was happy I passed but dissapointed, in myself, on some of the points that I recieved because they were avoidable and I recognized the mistakes as I was doing them.

Tommorow we will be doing it again. I hope to cut my point total in half. I also hope that when it comes to the real road test that I do just as well.

Yeah it is going well. I just hope I dont make some critical mistake on the road test lol. As far as the 2 weeks. Its gonna go by fast enough. I remember back when I was first calling Central. I wanted to get the ball rolling and get going. That was 2 months ago. Time flew by even though during it it didnt seem it. Now schooling, I feel like I just got here the other day but I will be going on my 3rd and final week next week.

Hmmm, odd they told me 4 weeks before I got here but looking at the calendar its only 3 weeks. Wierd that I didnt notice that before. I have 4 more driving days in school and then a road test on a 5th day. Not sure what Im going to do with myself this weekend. I will be mighty bored with nothing to do lol.

You better get use to sitting around with nothing to do.
You will do it allot in trucking, it is half of the job.
34 hour restart now and then in a truck stop, sitting waiting to get loaded for 10+ hours, and having to stay awake so you hear them call you on the radio.
Same thing with unloading. Happens all the time.
Sitting for hours while a lumper breaks down your load. It will be off the truck in 15 minutes, but it takes them 6 hours to turn your 24 pallets into 60 pallets. And you must wait the full time, because if they mess up any product while moving it they will refuse it as damaged.
In which case the company will end up paying for it.
Fun fun times in the life of a trucker.

They really like to take their time I know. I used to watch sysco unload their trucks some times they would do it fast other times they would be so slow especially if we needed the product right then it sucked so bad. Books are helpful as well.

One thing to watch out for at the Ut terminal. When my wife took her test the route they took her goes over railroad tracks. They do this on purpose to see if you will shift while going across the tracks. I am not sure if they do it at the other places. When I took the test here in Fl they did the same thing, took us over the railroad tracks. So guys don't forget, don't shift going across the tracks!
As far as your training time, don't worry it will fly by. It's the insurance companies that require you stay out for that amount of time not Central's. I think the guideline was 1 year current otr experience and you don't have to go with a trainer. If you haven't driven in 6 months then I think you have to do 2 weeks with a trainer. Like I said though your training time will fly by enjoy it because when your on your own all mistakes made are your fault! Can't pass the blame back and forth between you and the trainer. Hey Chrome can probably back me up on this but once you guys are on your own every time you pick up a trailer make sure you do a walk around and note every nick and scratch and default about the trailer. Then send it to the shop in your qualcomm. This covers your butt because a lot of drivers play bumper cars with the trailers and will try to pass the blame on to the next driver.

Yeah I am actually looking forward to being out with a trainer. I want to learn the ropes so to speak and not have to figure it out on my own. At this point I can shift semi decent and make some turns and some backs. I know this does not make me a driver. All it does is make me good enough to pass a road test.

We are on flatland here, pretty much, Going up and down the mountains will be new and I dont want to be alone for it. Hell just driving a truck with a load in it will be new. Snow is comming. There is a lot of #### I will not see or be prepared for out on the road during this school time. My only hope is that I get a real good trainer and he actually teaches me. I know I wont even see everything once I am with and done with him/her. I hope I can expect to experience enough to get me through and able to learn the rest as I go along.

I am a real easy going guy and very easy to get along with. I know tight quarters can be stressful but I think I can manage it for 5 weeks. I actually kind of feel that I have learned about everything I am going to learn in school and really cant wait for the road test to get it done and over with.
