My China Diary Begins

Well, after the set back today, we will continue on. We did not go out and celebrate, but did have a great dinner. Here in China, they are also starting to go total no smoking, and they are enforcing. Went to a place tonight, and there were signs, and no smoking. Even saw a ad on TV the other day, get caught in some areas, 1500RMB fine.

For those that do not know, here in Guangzhou, there is a saying, if it flies, in the water, or on the ground, they will find a way to cook it, and they are serious about it. Once, I even had fried worm skin, and yes, it was good. Tonight, had a great dinner. Sauteed shrimp with the skin, egg omelette and some other food that I had no idea. Just trusted Susan and Anne, my daughter, and it was great. Heck, when I return home, I can not go to a Chinese place for food.

Now as far as the little one changing her plans. We looked at the prices to fly back home for a few days, and when she saw them, well, she decided to just stay here in Guangzhou. It was alot cheaper, so now, trying to find a hotel here. Wanted to go out of the city, but she squashed that idea. Ohhh well, have to go along with the boss. Here in China, she is the boss, at least to some ideas, but most, she will run by me, and yes, I always agree, up to a point

Sorry that no pics, brought the camera, batteries dead. BHC, thanks for your help regarding one certain person. I was almost ready to reply, and decided, heck with it.

What is nice here, lots of places that you can go, the menu's have pics so that you can see what you are ordering, and there are even some places that have all of the dishes prepared and sitting on counters so that you really see what you are getting. You just walk along the counter with the waitress, and point to what you want, and then when done, back to your table and wait for them to prepare it and bring to you.

 

Today heading to our new hotel. Was able to find a nice room, Executive style at a 4 star international hotel here. Price, $40/night, and this includes the western/chinese style buffet in the morning, and if theirs is like others that I have, I will be filling up every morning. Have to remember to get some batteries for the camera today so can get some more pics. Before left the states, got my yearly flu shot, and darn if not wake this morning and starting to come dows with something. It just has to be the weather here. Hot and muggy.

Was one that for once I did not pick. No, not staying here. Was just here for my wife's visa interview. Back on the 19th. Got that expensive T660 to pay for.

 

Well, why the wife sleeps, I can play. We are at this hotel, and it is great. Susan really likes it, and for $40/night, it is just excellent. I will be posting a pic of the room and some others. Last night headed down to the 3rd floor the the buffet, and what a buffet. At least 4 tables, plus to cooking areas manned by souz chefs. One had live fish that you could pick out and they would cook right then and there. The other one was meat. I so enjoyed this buffet. Some of the items where sauteed scallops, veggies of all sorts, chicken wings that where not wings, they were full sized chickens, and drum sticks. This is the first time that I have been do a buffet in ages that I got up for not a second plate, but a third. You can guess where dinner is tonight again. The total costs, $12/person. Costly by China standards, but the place was packed.

This morning buffet, again veggies. They just love their veggies here. There was also hash browns, 3 different varieties of eggs, fried and boiled and some small little bird eggs. Also ham and bacon. The cost, free, included in my room price. Also Chinese congee and porriage.

After breakfast, decided to tour some of the city here. While touring, saw a nice hair salon, so decided to pamper myself. Nice hair wash and scalp massage. Takes ab out 20 minutes, the cost, $1.75. Thought about a air cut, but the wife said no. Keep the ponytail. Have to listen to the boss sometimes. Tomorrow going to try and find a full body massage place. Normal cost is about $10/person, and this even includes a pedicure and foot massage.
