Talk with drivers who currently work at the companies you are interested in working. They are your best source of accurate information. When drivers have negative things to say about a carrier, it is often because they had problems with the company. It could be the driver and not the company that has the problem. I didn't see where you mentioned where you live. But, if you get a chance to go to Fontana, there is an old truck stop called Truck Town. They used to have a driver board with many postings for driver and owner operators. If you are not familiar with them they are at the Cherry Street exit off I-10.

That's an awful long drive for hometime.I assume you team, why can't your team mate drop you off then come pick you up?Do you go home once a month and does your hometime start once you're in your car heading for home?If it does you're getting jipped out of your much needed days off.Mike you sound like an easy going guy.I say this because you have a good relationship with CRST and teaming.Nice to see a member say something positive about a company that has a bad reputation.Your next company, find something closer to your home.Eight hr drive is ridiculous for any company, the cost of gas and the wear and tear on your vehicle.

What do you prefer; refrigerated, van, flatbed?

Do you want 48 states, regional, local?

You're in a good location for many good jobs.

Not only is the gas an Issue but your spending 16hrs of hometime driving to and from. I don,t blame you for wanting a change, you don,t want to end up like the walmart driver that killed the comedian. I suggest taking your time and don't rush into anything.Maybe take a ride around your area and look for a small company you never heard of . I was a 1000 miles from home and saw a truck from a town in my area.I said good morning to the driver and we started talking. The next thing I knew he offered to give me a job as long as my records were clean. Been with his ten truck company ever since. so be patient and most important keep your license clean and something good will come.

Your co driver lives in a different area then, or CRST would let you bring the truck home that far out. My son had a co driver from Fresno he would drop my son off on is way home, pick him up on the way out. Hes with CRST.

Well mpg is a valid point, if someone has to commute long distances it would be logical to get a car with good mpg, or not complain about how much you spend on gas.

Not its not. In 30+ years I have never driven to there yard for hometime. I always park here at the house. CRST lets drivers do this my son works there and his tractor comes home., maybe he needs a new dm. Interstate will send him home with the truck.

I would not work for a company that did not send it home with me. The KW I drive is setting next to my garage.

So you do realize that a lot of towns and cities will not let you park a commercial truck in a driveway or residential area.
