My thoughts exactly, as mercer was a close second and the only reason they werent number 1 is bc i dont know how well id do with the first in first loaded system(im big in to preplanning). However, i talked to a mercer recruiter today as well, and the requirement is 1997 or newer.
anybody looking to a buy a 92 hood in excellent condition? -
e logs start for anyone after end of 4/29 they said as long as I have no log book fines they wont make me put one in my truck. see how long that lasts
MJ1657 Thanks this. -
I just called recruiting...
There is no age restriction, but the engine has to be electronic. No Mechanical. Mercer is getting ready in case our gooberment mandates electronic logs. -
Well for Malone theres no age restriction, but you gotta have an eletronic motor. For Mercer the recruiter told me 97 or better, but im sure thats just bc 97 and up is a sure bet for an ecm under the hood. Either way, kinda botched up my plans, now im calling around to see who, if anyone, will take on a mechanical motor and still offer a decent rate. Ive put too much time and money into this truck to give up on it but it may come down to the point where i have to cut my losses and sell it so i can buy something a bit newer.MJ1657 Thanks this.

Can anyone tell me how I would do with CRST Malone living in the Roanoke Va. area? I have considered them for a while and recruiters just say what you want to hear. Is there anyone out there that can give me an idea about flatbed freight around Roanoke Va. and what would be a good lane to run? Thank you for your help.

For my short time contracted there, it wasn't much freight out of/near Roanoke... I found a lane running lumber out the house up north, then something going out to the Midwest or down south to set up around a Steel Mill.. It wasn't much freight besides lumber picking up in Virginia, There was Aluminum Coils picking up in Charlottesville and Petersburg that paid $1.90 a mile with tarps but most of CRST stuff ran through Virginia

Thank you for the information. Maybe that would get me home on weekend with a load to deliver Monday.

popcorn, I'm sure you can find stuff running from the PA, OH area that runs to the carolina's that will run down 81 and get you by the house. But, if you want to home most weekends, leasing isn't for you. Going home all the time when first starting out is a good way to lose your rear and put you back into a company truck.
