I was an O/O leased onto them back in '06-'07. I loved it, I really did as long as I didn't get greedy and pick loads going to the middle of nowhere. I left and gave up my truck in 09/07 due to personal issues at home. I needed to focus on my family and marriage more than my business.

Fast forward going on 7 years later and I am in the process of getting a truck and trailer and heading back to CRST. There is a simple little secret that makes it work. Develop strong relationships with agents/brokers in the areas you want to run the most. Call them often, get them to learn your name, BE ON TIME!!!

You will be surprised how they will start CALLING YOU and offering you better and better loads. Don't worry about CRST, they are only there to process paperwork for you. Get in good with 4 or 5 agents, and you will be very successful.

Sounds good to me and I appreciate the info.
I plan on staying on the good side of the agents.
From what I've been reading on here what you've said is right on the money as far as staying in the good freight lanes and staying away from those tempting loads that will leave you stranded.

nightgunner is right, about CRST, the industry and life, in general.

"There is a simple little secret that makes it work. Develop strong relationships with agents/brokers in the areas you want to run the most. Call them often, get them to learn your name, BE ON TIME!!!"

Be dependable and you will go further than if you piss in their corn flakes every other time you talk with them. Be the driver that you would want to talk to.

Well I do appreciate the replies...
they are renting me a car which I'll be picking up this afternoon.
I'm sure I'll be hitting some of you up with questions.
I've done this with triple crown before so I'm hoping crst will work out better

What type of rate quote do you aim for? I know that when you call they are going to hit you with the lowest rate that they can get it hauled for. So how do you know what to ask for?

Rates depend on the load. If they are desperate to get it moved I.e. was supposed to pick up 2 days ago, shoot for the most money. Remember, they don't get paid till you get the paperwork turned in. They are behind, you are going out of the way to help them.
Don't price your self out of the market, and don't work for free either.

    Loke and popcorn169 Thank this.
