Glad to hear the positive responses. I'm headed to Cedar Rapids this week to start training. Any tips? Still going well? And I see you are from south florida. I am from Miami. My biggest worry is finding a co driver in my area. Were you able to find another south florida driver?

Congrats man, our school cautioned us against CRST they didn't go into great details why, but glad to hear it's all working out for you.

    Hello Debbie,

Just read your post and since I will heading to Iowa in 10 days, I'd like to know how your journey has been.
    Thanks in advance,

So far so good. The accommodations are far from "5 star" but are adaquate. There are 3 different schools you can get sent to to get your cdl. I went to kirkwood and it was great. Nadta is a crst owned school and I've heard mixed reviews there and there is hawkeye which I haven't heard much about. The food...... We'll how ever much you are planning to bring in cash to cover food, I would at least double that number. There is a grocery store within walking distance and there is a shuttle that runs to walmart at.8pm but plan to provide much of your own food. Over all this, like most things in life, boils down to you get out of it what you put into it. Good luck! If you have any specific questions post them and I will do my best to answer.

    Flex Thanks this.

Unless they have changed a lot in the last 5 years since I drive for them they are a prime example of a bottom feeder company. They make more off putting guys through "school" then the actual trucking company I think. Pay was terrible. The split pay week is just ridiculous. Make sure to check your pay statements. They weren't taking taxes out of mine and I had to pay in over $1000 at the end of the year to taxes.

I have decided on Celadon Trucking. This decision was after 70+ hours of research, based off of what I decided what is best for me. Looking forward to getting this underway.

That was YOUR fault. YOU fill out YOUR W-4 for state and federal taxes....and employers (as well as IRS) are to deduct taxes at the dependent rate that YOU set up. Holy cow, some people!

I did have it filled out correctly.
It's funny when people (you) jump to defend when you know 0 about the situation.

I know PLEANTY about taxes. And I know that if you had to PAY $1,000.00 at tax time, on the meager wage that you had to have made with CRST...then YOU screwed up on your W-4. If you'd have claimed zero dependents, you'd have gotten a return, not a bill.
