    Hey Nut...

As it turns out -- I cannot send you a PM, or otherwise access your profile page.

You might wanna have a talk about that with one of the Moderators.

Otherwise -- if you Google the above name, I think you'd get the same info (& more up-to-date, as well).

    ABSOLUTELY!
    I greatly appreciate everyone's help.
I just know something is not right!
I know employees (especially drivers) are a dime a dozen, but we have rights too.

    TheLoadOut Thanks this.

I’m definitely not an attorney but it could help to show a pattern imo.
To me it just looks like the company wants driver facing cameras in their trucks and wants the drivers to pay for them.. The $150 to keep your job is where I think they violated your employee rights..

My expertise is in Pool Boy stuff and beer tasting :)

Jk, sitting at home waiting for my truck to get fixed.

    Thank you for your help.
I mean are we going to start paying the company for speeding per company policy?
Yet no ticket issued by a law enforcement / government agency?
What about red light or stop sign violations?
I totally understand cell phone use and distracted driving is deadly, but so are other behaviors and offenses.
Are we going to pay them for every thing we are "supposedly doing" by dash cam survelliance?
    Just crazy to me.
But read the policy -all cell phones should be OFF when driving the company vehicles.
I do not see much grey areas in that policy if I understand correctly?
I have never seen a written policy about $150 when caught misusing a cell phone.
I never signed any updated policies.

    TheLoadOut and Concorde Thank this.

    Please explain?
They are claiming this $150 fee for misuse of cell phone (1st time) policy ---even more $ and termination 2nd time.
Yet, I have never seen or signed this policy.
    I had no clue honestly.
Fine me $150 and driver facing camera.
    I wasn't agreeing to neither.
They didn't want me to quit, but I wasn't agreeing to that BS.
How would this violate my employee rights in YOUR pool boy opinion of course! ;) LOL

They didn’t suffer a loss but are trying to extract money from you. All depends on your state and what they allow.

I think you definitely made the right call by not backing down. I can't even see how they would get away with a "fine" of $150 to an employee. I've never heard of such a thing. What other types of "fines" are they imposing on their employees? So now they've lost a good driver and a dedicated employee over the reflection of your phone screen. Your replacement might not have either of those qualities.

“all cell phones “should” beOFF when driving the company vehicles.”

looks like a suggestion to me and not a demand :)

My focus isn't on the camera, there is a point that you made with that which is very valid.

However it is the point that if she is telling the whole truth (don't take that personal OP), and if she has a good driving record, the problem is a lack of following the norms of how policies are applied, they have to be equal and they have to be disclosed.

If they are not applied equally, and/or disclosed, then it is possible there is discrimination going on that is subtle on the company's part.

If this is true, file with YOUR state labor department and open up a case with the EEOC.
