i live in denver (well, littleton) and have for the last 30 years or so, and before that i graduated from high school in colorado springs. while i spent a number of years away from colorado, mostly in montana, oregon, and overseas, the vast majority of my adult life has been spent in colorado.
i drive for system transport in the colorado regional fleet and go west out of denver 4 days out of 5. before this job, i drove for groendyke transport out of their denver terminal, hauling fuel into the mountains (and over loveland pass) 4 days out of 5 for not quite two years. before groendyke, i drove for watkins and shepard, mostly on the flatbed side, and mostly my home terminal was denver.
you haven't been through it more than me...
edit: bleh, the whole point of the above was to establish credibility for the thing i forgot to post. go me
anyway, over the last year or so, CDOT has occasionally been metering during weekdays, usually later afternoon/early evenings on friday. i'm not sure if the traffic is really that much worse than it used to be, or they are trying new traffic management techniques, or what the deal might be. there is enough traffic through the i70 corridor that any problem can have ripple effects that can last for hours. it used to be that this only happened on sunday evenings. then it used to be that this only happened on the weekends. now it's happening any day of the week.
this does not meet with my approval![]()

So it didnt exactly start out all that great, -15 and REALLY windy at 5am.
The roads were pretty good just really windy and blowing allot of snow around, then I was driving and I was comeing up on a May Trucking Truck and since I'm a big fan of trucker steve (whitelinefilms) and well as a fan of Trucker Adam (BigRigBros48 ) always look to see if it is one of them and of course is never is.....and today as I was comeing up on this may truck like the 10th one I was about to pass for the day I ramdomly thought how cool would it be if this were trucker Steve?
Well as I'm passing him I look over andIT WAS TRUCKER STEVE!
So of course I grab the mic and ask to confirm what I thought I just saw and it really was him, so I got to talk to him for a while, it was pretty cool, he really is as cool of a guy as he seems in his videos. He was asking me about WS and we where talking about makeing YT videos....etc.
I only got to drive 490 miles today (ran out of hours) but I'm now at the Bosselman in Elm Creek (I think lol) NE. I'm Only 15 hours (910 miles) away from the receiver and I have 17.5 hours for tomorrow and tuesday.
So now I get to sit here in somewhat warm weather and relax for 16 hours.....FINALLY a break! lol I'm so exhausted from the last few weeks...Loving it but Exhausted lol
anyway for those of you that are not familar with Trucker Steve heres his YouTube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/Whitelinefilms

I'm really surprised he's back out so quick! How is he doing?American-Trucker Thanks this. -
glad you got to bump into him ATAmerican-Trucker Thanks this. -
I was thinking the same thing as I was comeing up behind him thinking about how cool it would be if it was him but then I was like nah he wont be back out here yet and I ALMOST didnt look over to see if it was him.....and I almost slowed down and WOULD have had he not had his radio on lol Just to make sure I didnt imagin that haha
He sounded like he was doing alright. He was telling me about what it was like when he found out (he was on the road at the time) and he was telling me about how May went above and beyond what any employer would do to help him and his family. May was my 2nd choice until I found out they dont hire from NC, but for anyone that doesnt live in the Watkins Shepard hireing area or WANTs to go out with a Trainer call may. I'm very impressed with what they did to help him...

I drove 592 miles today (ran out of hours again!) I'm now at the Loves in Utica, IL.
Pretty easy drive, not one bit of rain, snow, or ice. No Traffic, and EVERY scale was closed! I haven't crossed a scale since last Thursday!
I'm now 330 Miles away from the customer a 5 Hour and 30 min drive, and Luckily the Taylor, MI terminal is right around the corner from them because by the time I get there I will only have 45 mintues left to drive.....which really sucks, so I just sent dispatch a QC message to let her know when I'd be MT and how many hours I would have left so hopefully she can find me something at the terminal I can hook to and at least get to a TS....

I drove the last 330 miles of that CA to MI load, and I thought it was going to be a live unload.....Luckily it was just a drop, then I bobtailed the whole 2 miles to the Taylor, MI terminal where I hooked to 1 of the 2 MT trailers there lol
Yesterday I sent Dispatch a QC message in hopes that she could have somthing lined up more me when I was MT because I was really limited on hours...
Well it worked, about 30 minutes before the Delivered I got a QC message, with another load! I needed to grab an MT and I load Tomorrow morning in OH and I deliver in NC on the 6th.
I only have 5.75 hours for tomorrow and 10.5 thursday, but its only an 11 hour drive...
Anyhoo, so I have the Actual number from that last load now.....
The QC said the load would be 2,266 miles from Commerce, CA to Romulus, MI. I drove 2,383 miles the differance is 117 miles. Now keep in mind after I had got loaded I had to back track to the SFS terminal to get my IFTA and registration. AND I rerouted around the state of CO......
I've had loads where I follow the QC routing 100% and I still drive 100 miles further then it says it will be.....So for anyone that needs to do that CO detor its not that much further if at all
American TruckerThe Challenger Thanks this.
