What kind of worthless peice of #### takes a picture of a dead person....have some respect...dirtbag's.
American-Trucker, ACH1130, misterG and 2 others Thank this. -
so last night i got to take that POS 4hp truck again. I figured out how to make it not suck so much. put it on manual mode put it in 10th and forget about shifting. The #### thing down shifts to 9th ALL the time, spend more time doing 45 in a 70 then 70 in the 70!
Anyway me and another guy had to go allllllllllllllllll the way to our Richmond, VA terminal and back, such a long ride. like 550-600 miles.
got back around 6am, and worked the dock until 845 this morning.
they've hired 4 new drivers in the last 2 weeks, so i've already got enough seniority that i dont have to do the crap runs anymore. Once these new guys get hazmat and doubles, i dont plan on ever seeing our atlanta terminal again lol.
We also have a 1st shift line haul spot open and noone above me wants it. Im not sure if im going to see if i can get it since i was told that day shift guys have mandatory saturday work when things get busy, night shift oviously cant do that. But they dont work 14 hours a day either so i donno. But that would also mean less money

How do you guys get paid, mileage or hourly based on the average run time?
-
I don't know if you'd want to drive one of those POS trucks in the light of day, might be best to continue to roll that rattle trap down the road in the dark of the night.
-
Flat rate for regular runs $40 - $85 (each direction) , by the mile for any odd runs (.33cpm) , and hourly for dock work ($16.50 - $18/hr)

last night, got stuck going to ATL again (same driver on vaca AGAIN). got down there at 1130pm worked the dock till 130am, had a pre-hooked set going back to Charlotte. Only problem is the driver that drops this set (at least last night and tuesday night (i got this same pre hooked set tuesday night too) he takes the dummy glad hands off the back trailer and 1 of the pig tails off the dolly! AND so NO lights OR mud flaps on the dolly! if i ever find out who this guy is im gonna smack him.
Made it back to charlotte around 615am worked the dock till 9am. im sooo exhausted, never been this tired in my life. I think im going to take that day shift position if only to save my weekends. only down side is it will be harder to find another job while working during the day, but if i cant get more sleep, i think it would be easyer to work during the day on less sleep.

I havent had the time to follow this thread. Did you finally tell which company hired you? Is it Southeastern?

That's what line haul should be. Driving 300+ miles a night, no dock work that's what dock guys are for. I remember at CWF working dock 5-730, then hioking and driving 40 miles to the hub and getting there like 930 then working dock till 6 and then going back home. Even the guys who do 500+ would have to work the dock, it's not safe in my opinion
