Want to know something really sad, you are doing better than most of the dry side with that wage.
And I'm not joking.
My experience running 100% legal, if anyone cares.

Speaking of the family, I asked the Memphis terminal mgr if I wote an E-mail to them, would they even read it, since they surely wont take my phone call or allow me to see them in person? His answer was very revealing! If I sent my e-mail to the terminal mgr 1st, he would be sure the family would see it. So much for an "open door" policy! -

that is so messed up. i remember speaking to an ex-dispatcher from the tulare yard. he now works as an enterprise rental car person at one of their clovis, ca locations. the one at shaw & villa. he told me of some interesting things about the company. he was one bitter dude, i tell ya. he was HAPPY to be working for enterprise and making more money rather than having his marketing degree being used and abused, and having very little to speak for as far as money was concerned.
compared to the king cousin company, i have to say at least as long as you were a productive, low maintenance, didn't or hardly ever complained, and ran LEGAL. swift treated their people much, much better. i don't care what people say, that company did a good job at keeping me content 95% of the time. looking back, i wish i hadn't ever left that company.
last year's w-2, i broke the $40,000 marker. too bad i had little to show for it. i finally paid off a medical bill from a motorcycle accident i had gotten into 6 years ago. i also #### near bought my 08' cobalt in full, with cash. i have never seen a salesperson's eye become so wide when i went in there wielding a large sum of cash.
here at knight, it is looking grim. even running somewhat "hot", i have barely anything to speak for it. when i ran 100% legal, each week's pay was absolutely horrendous! i've been told from a mormon within the company who's looking to break free from the cult, that knight is forcing ALL of their most loyal long time drivers to go back OTR or be fired. seems most are choosing to be let go.
keep your head up, dave! if you're ever in phoenix, just waltz on into the office area and look for kevin. he's usually around. i've already had to speak to him twice about stuff that went bad along the road while under a load. he summoned me, by the way. -
531 miles
11.25 hrs on duty
$180.54 earned
It was good day until I stopped to fuel. I did a quick walk around the truck and noticed 1 flat tire and 1 tire almost flat. Ended up with a nail in the flat tire and a valve core went bad in the almost flat one. Good thing I did a walk around, the tires hadnt even started to heat up yet! So I got them repaired, had a great conversation with the truckstop chaplain, ate dinner and called it a day a little early.
My dispatcher tried earlier to get me to run over hours to do him a favor. If I would have agreed it would have put me over my 11 hrs by 3 hrs. I told him there was no way that I would violate the rules for him (I'm already on probation, I think he was trying to set me up to get me fired!) When he wouldnt relent on the pressure, I told him I would call him back in a bit and I called corporate HQ, talked to the corporate safety director and, what do you know, he backed down! Well, it aint over till it's over, right? I deliver this load tommorow and my next load is only 60 miles away doesnt p/u till Monday morning, 2 days later, not eligible for layover pay as I technically have a load. And guess how great that load is! 2 drops, 168 miles including deadhead miles and doesnt deliver till Tuesday am! Oh yeah, almost forgot, this load takes me FURTHER AWAY FROM HOME. I HAVENT BEEN HOME IN 7.5 WEEKS NOW! I will be calling someone in Phoenix on Monday to get some answers!!! Of course I get this load assignment at 1730 as everyone is leaving the office to enjoy their weekend AT HOME! How conveinent that there was no one in the office to talk to about this crap load and wont be till Monday morning!
But my dispatcher doesnt single people out and give them garbage loads when they dont "help" the dispatcher! He would never use his position to retaliate against drivers who wont play along!!! -
Based on what I've read I'm glad I don't work for Knight. I'm kept running, and get home when I want, within reason, and never run over 11/14/70 (maybe 10 min) and am not pressured to. Maybe you should consider a different company that runs the lanes you need to get home and meets your other "deal breakers". No one company will meet all your desires, but it sounds like the one your at isn't close. Good luck, and remember. Don't complain about your decisions, you made em so live with em.

360 miles driven
7.75 hrs on duty
$112.40 earned
Just a quick drop and hook at the customer. So I DH to our yard in Carlisle, PA so I can shower and if I want to I can drop the trailer and BT to get a real meal.(instead of the flavored swill the truckstop has on their menu.)
I found a fellow driver and we drove over to Longhorne and had a great steak and watched some football. Man, I miss watching the game at home with a few friends and some cold beer! But I wanted to play "truckdriver" so that's the price we pay. -

sat in our Carlisle yard all day. nothing to report. I went to get my one meal a day around 1530, when I came back another driver had backed under my empty trailer. While the refrigerated side has a few more trailers than the dry side, I wasnt in the mood to let someone steal my trailer. I informed the driver of the problem, he said dispatch told him it was available. I told him we better call and get this sorted out, he wisely declined to put up a fight and let me have my trailer back. So for now I am going back to bed for a few hrs to get up at 0300, shower, eat and drive the 90 mins to my p/u at 0700.
