Good thing you didn't go there. You can get into a trailer without the left door being closed, just use the hinge on the right door and pull yourself up.

In NC look at Watkins Shepard if you are a good driver and want dry vans. Kllm if you want reefers just don't sign a lease. Maverick or tmc if you want flatbed.

I just left CRE you made a good choice if you have your CDL already I agree with the other writers there are too many other companies out there in need of drivers. CRE is a last resort company in my eyes. I went there and they served their purpose I got my CDL in 2 1/2 weeks I should of left then. I tried the road training part and suffered for 60 days on the road not being trained properly and just got used for mile purposes. I still can't believe this company is in business to make money literally out of the employees pockets. Really shameful. I'm off to TMC, talked to a couple of their drivers they seem to be happy and content with the company. I think I'll be a good fit for them and they will be a good fit for me.
Keep trying don't give up you will find the right company.:biggrin_25525:

You will have to do that test with any company some do it with just a table and no icc bumper (much harder) I suggest you find a yard where you can practice cause you'll never get hired if you can't climb in a trailer or carry 25 lbs around for 5 mins in a milk crate or similar item

32 years and I never had to walk more than a few feet to put a case on a pallet! 50% of the time it was set the pallets next to each other and stand between them and move cases from one to the other! But no where did I ever walk around with a 25 pound box across a dock! They want it, it's on the dock on a pallet or on the floor next to the door! Any further, get a pallet jack, power jack or fork lift as I don't stock you shelves or do your work! It made it to the dock you take it from there but if I can't pay a lumper then I'll break it down at MY speed the way the ti hi says and you put it where you want!

The climbing into a trailer deal isn't hard. Step onto the ICC then either side you decide is the easiest to climb up is the side you reach up and grab the side of the wall or the lowest door hindge with one hand and the other on the floor and pull up and kneel on your knee and bring the other up and take 2 knee steps into the trailer and stand up! With a reefer the drain tray at the back door helps to grab onto.

If you are just climbing into the trailer to set load locks or do a count or hand carry a few single boxes to the back leave the left door locked and use it to hold onto to climb in. Thats the safe way to climb into a trailer! The funny part is the only time I had to do the stupid test was they didn't test me on how to get down which is the dangerous part! Go Figure!

The safe way is to sit on the floor legs dangling and hold on to the side of the trailer, find the ICC with one foot and then step down but LOOK at where your feet are going! NEVER JUMP! Jumping from 4 feet can jar your back, twist an ankle or even break that ankle or leg!

For an even safer way to get into the trailer if you have to do this a lot is get one of those short 5' fold out ladders and set it up and go from there or a short straight aluminum extension ladder and cut it down to size just leave the feet on it. File the cut end to get those sharp burrs off!
