I am going to Jackson next Monday (March 2) for orientation, I was told by my recruiter that KLLM is no longer providing school reimbursement, he said they may start it back up when the economy improves. That was disappointing since I had really hoped to have that $5,000 back in my pocket next year. At this point I'm just happy to be going to Jackson and start making some money. I also understand that this is the last orientation until April. The other companies that I had pre-hires from were Werner, Swift and Western Express so I'm thrilled to be going to KLLM.

My Orentation is March 16th in Jackson when is yours. I've been checking on KLLM now for about two to three months and found them to be the best one for me. I've heard nothing but good thing about company. Maybe we be in the same class.

I was reading Road Toad's analysis of the fellow who was fired by KLLM for unsafe turns, etc. Her analysis I agree with, with one important exception. She attempted to justify his trainer's using the trainee's log book, by saying the load would not have gotten there in time, and it was important for retention of the customer.
Its NEVER, I repeat NEVER JUSTIFIED to break federal law, in order to get the load there on time. If the trainer had gotten into an accident, he would have gone to prison. And, his CDL would have been disqualified probably forever. A huge fine would have been incurred as well.
In addition, he job was to TRAIN a prospective driver for KLLM. This driver would have been, essentially, a representative of the company.
Instilling and teaching illegal, "get the load there on-time regardless"
policy should NOT be tolerated or encouraged. And I'm sure the insurance company for KLLM would vigorously agree.
However, the rest of her analysis was right on the money, and I have to agree with what she said.
To all of you newbies; stay legal, its to your benefit, and to the benefit of the general motoring public! Its nice not to have to "look over your shoulder" regarding encounters with the DOT.
And, its even nicer not to have to be raked over the coals financially and legally by the DOT. Thanks for the opportunity to express my opinion.

Assuming you're addressing me, what relevance does THAT have to do with the subject I brought up?? And, I wasn't degrading RoadToad one bit. She's intelligent, articulate, and refreshingly forthright and honest. I only took issue with ONE of her comments. And although I know that we all have to fudge a little bit on our logs once in a while, I am correct in MY analysis of her rationalizing a blatant HOS violation by saying that the trainer HAD to do it in order to ensure on time delivery and retention of an important customer. And you know what? Those kind of violations invite scrutiny by the DOT, and bring grief to us all in the long run. And, finally, please feel free to look up my picture if you'd like. As for the picture of my truck, I'm a company driver and don't really have much "pride" in their truck, other than to keep it clean inside and out.

Relax, yes you did have a good post. TJ wanted a picture of RoadToad's new lease truck, and a pic of her enjoying it. Think like a trucker, why would he want to see your truck when he could see the cute blonde in her new truck.:biggrin_25525:

Well, now I'm all confused. I had a pre hire and was set up for the march 2nd orientation, but was told all orientations for march was cancelled. They told me to call back mid-march to get set up in April. What gives?

My recruiter has moved into a different department until the "hiring freeze" is taken off and nobody else will work with me. I'd like to get into orientation ASAP if possible.
