Hi all. I'm a trucker wife.
Can't say that I approve it, but we need money anyway.
So my dear husband wants to start a little project. Tweeting or something like that.
He can't get that it's not a good idea. So please can you write in reply to my post what you think about it. -
what is he going to tweet? i dont tweet or blog myself, don't really read them either.. only do the facebook thing.
-
I use Facebook daily. Twitter rarely. I don't see a problem, but fail to understand how that post got in my thread, lol
-
lol, me neither, i really dont know what's going on anymore.. Smaggs, how often do you haul dry freight in your box? do they try their best to keep parishables in there or do they just throw what ever in the back as long as the truck is still moving.. heard the refeers can only scale 43k. is that true?
-
I'm pimping around in a Volvo 670. I can scale out with 46k load, including pallets and dunnage, when loaded correctly. Not possible with a Pete. Don't know about the pro star.
When I bobtail, I weigh about 17k I think it was. Maybe 18. I'll have to pony up for a cat scale for my own curiosity next time I go home or bobtail
My steers weigh 11000 empty and I think my drives were at 7000, but I don't remember. -
Oh, and I have chains under my bunk and three gallons of oil and three gallons of antifreeze. I also carry two cases of drinking water and at least two gallons of non potable for the event of a tire fire. In the summer, I replace my chains with six bottles of water, in case of tire fire/overheated tires.
I carry 3 gallons of oil and 3 antifreeze because a lot of reefers I pull are neglected and low.
I do a lot of dry lately. Reefer is constant, but I've had a lot of dry lately. Some loads are reefer in the summer, like soda. In winter, they say " do not freeze, so I can run dry or set reefer to 55 cycle if it is cold out.
I enjoy the variety, plus I can cool or heat the trailer, which comes in handy after a washout to get airflow or to make it comfortable to sweep it out -
yeah, i think you can haul a couple hundred more then me.. i max at 45500... with full tanks.. i had half tanks once and picked up beer once, and they had put 45900 in the box and i was over by 170lbs. your steers are higher then mines, but i have my fifth wheel slide all the way back.. i'm in the ProStar with one gal water, two case of bottled water, two gal oil, two gal coolant, four sets of chains, one spare tire, broom, tool box, and alot of friction mats i get from hauling paper, but i keep forgetting to take out of the truck.. the ability to cool down the trailer has to be amazing in the summer. once i was in Louisiana and went to sweep out the trailer, i only got a quarter of the way started before i had to stop and sit on the tailgate, dang near fainted in there.
