How many miles did they say you would get? Anyway, saw the truck tour vid, good stuff but one thing, ditch that fifth wheel puller, you're a flatbedder now. Dirty goes with the territory.

they said 2500-3000 a week if i remember right, i could be remembering wrong though, i'm pretty sure i posted it in the first post in this thread.

I'm not too worried about miles, at the moment i'm focusing on Properly tarping/secureing my loads and learning how this FB stuff works. Then they can run me as hard as they want.

Also with it being winter and the holiday season i fully expected freight to be slow this time of year as we haul equipment and such so i didnt figure to much construction and or people dropping $100,000+ on a machine around christmas ya know lol

and as for the 5th wheel puller i'm gonna keep it, its long, skinny, and has a hook on the end im sure it will come in handy for something with my chains at somepoint.

A fifth wheel puller also doubles as a strap puller when you have to belly wrap pipe.

Yeah I understand, didn't mean to imply you shouldn't be sitting was just wondering what it was overall.

When I was with 'em, I had a small 2-burner camp stove that I kept under the bunk (you may not be able to cook w/ coals in an overly dry, drought stricken area that has a burn ban in place) and a couple cast iron skillets. Some of my best nights were spent out on a large gravel pull-off at a state or county line on some desolate 2-lane highway in the middle of nowhere...

That's what I liked most about them....running those western 2-lane roads. Farthest east I ever got was when I would go home.

well just when i was just about all settled in for the night...

The phone rings, head towards Rotan....we'll have something for you in the morning.....sweet. It was 435pm

All 3 of us got the call, so i found the route and our truck stop to stop at for the night and off we went 2 lane trucking threw the mountains of TX......

about an hour later.....i hear on the CB.."i dont have the hours to get there..."

THIS is why i dont convoy, I do things my way but ok whatever so after a bunch of searching and what not we are in BFE TX Literally in a Rest Area off a 2 lane with 4 parking spots we are takeing up 3 of them lol

Anyhoo we are 1.5 hours from Rotan....If everyone had just followed my plan we would be at a TRUCK STOP, 30 min from rotan....oh well

At least its nice AND has a bathroom (which is almost uheard of in a Rest area off a 2 lane in the middle of nowhere. BUT no vending machines either...so yea this kinda sucks.

I do have a little food low on drinks though, should be enough for tonight. Hopefully we can get our loads early and get in and out over there (all pre tarped) from the shipper.
