Thanks Ky, I will for sure! I live only 20 minutes from the home terminal in SLC.

Yes please keep us posted. I called and they told me I could only make .34 cpm and only get 25-2800 miles a week. I'm staying where I am at .34 Cpm but I run 3500 a week

Day one orientation, Very uneventful, physicals, hair follicle, fill a bottle half way, see the doctor. Watch a drug and alcohol video, Then they went over trip packs, pay items and that was pretty much it. We lost one driver that was actually a student and when he found out how long he would be on the road with a trainer he said "My fiancee is more important than the road" grabbed his stuff and walked out. So far, that is all we have lost to this point.

Experienced drivers did the road test, and the students stayed back and waited, we were given the opportunity to go out and look around the yard and at the equipment, a couple of drivers that were there walked up and talked to us, they told us what they liked about the company, no one really complained about the company. Unlike other companies I worked for, I mean Werner drivers would flat out ignore other drivers, whether in a terminal or truckstop, I mean, even the other drivers in orientation was stand offish.

The physical measures was actually very easy, drag a sled about 5 feet and push it back, kneel without aid pick up one snow chain to chest high 4 times, stand without aid, (we did not stand up with chains in our hands) step up a ladder by-passing the first rung, then back down, hold a load lock to chest high and extend it then retract it, then walk on a treadmill for 4 minutes at 3 MPH. That pretty much covered it.

Day two, today we covered more drug and alcohol training, Smith training, they took us out in a suburban or a van and had us do the Smith training, we would drive for awhile and describe all the hazards and describe what we were doing, things like, "scanning mirrors, I see a vehicle approaching in my lane" or "Scanning ahead to a light" etc. Then back to the terminal for some Driver Tech training and issuance of accident kits, FMCSA handbooks, spare log book. Important policies...that was about it.

I guess tomorrow we will do more Driver Tech training and the experienced drivers will probably get their trucks and students will wait for trainers.

Day three was more of the same, more Driver tech stuff, insurance options, more driver tech, a tour of the facility, catered BBQ from Dickey's BBQ, more driver tech...macros. Lost another driver due to personal issues.

We got our gate pass cards and comdata cards, the experienced drivers received their trucks, the trainees and myself (I am a skills assessment, the only one) received our trainer information, trainees will go out with a trainer for extended time, I will go out for and "evaluation period" where I must log 50 hours on line 3, then I will go solo.

I made contact with my evaluator and we made the initial introductions over the phone, I will meet him tonight and start driving then. (That is why I am awake at 2:00 am) That way I can sleep later today and be awake when we pick up our load tonight at 6ish. So far that is about it, pretty routine orientation for the most part.

I will post more as time goes on, I will let you all know how my first run goes. Talk to you then. :biggrin_1square:

    Here is my update.
I have made two runs, talk about easy! I am on the dedicated fleet with Pride and what I do is, bobtail to the DC, so far Albertson's or Smith's, pick up a pre loaded trailer, drive to the destination, so far Denver and Carson City, unload at two stores, sleep for 10 (usually at the store or drop yard in Denver), pick up a return, in Denver it was dunnage, and Carson I came back empty, (Pride pays empty miles, at least on dedicated) then drop the trailer back at the DC, bobtail back to the terminal, and then go home for my 10.

Right now, my evaluator is on his 34 so of course I am on 34, but one more run, I will have the required 50 hours on line 3 (Pride policy for anyone that had the break from driving I had) then I will get my own truck.

I will continue to keep you all posted.
