The main reason all carriers have rates like this is carriers have higher standards than CDL mills . CDL mills accept and pass everyone to get their money .

My question to you would be why would you sell everything and move anywhere before you had the job? That's not very smart. And the tests aren't hard, though it seems many fail their PWS

The reasons people fail are well documented on this forum. Bring an attitude and don't be lazy. It's simple really. Also for the hundredth time, you get as much time with a trainer as you need. Of course there is a limit. Probably after a month or so people would start to wonder.

To touch on this a little more. Schneider doesn't really treat trainers like road instructors. Meaning that you don't learn to drive with a trainer as much as you fine tune your skills and learn the company. You learn to live on the road. I think that is another reason many fail here. If you can't drive then they don't expect me to teach the basics, that is just the way it is here.
Also at CDL school you were the customer, at the company you are not.

For all of those that were asking, here are the reasons people failed or quit:
we started out with 18 guys, it was supposed to be 19, but someone never showed up. We lost six the first day. One guy didn't have his tanker endorsement, one didn't bring the proper forms of identification and the other four failed the pre work screen; one guys heart rate went to high, one couldn't balance on the balance beam, and the other two couldn't lift the weighted crates. The other seven guys left throughout training; some were afraid of the surge in the tank, some just decided that driving a tanker wasn't for them and one guy kept getting angry because he couldn't shift very well (drove an automatic in school) and he drove over a curb one day which was the final straw for him, and he quit.

*I noticed I said we lost eight the first day in my original post. That was incorrect, it was six not eight. My apologies, I was half asleep when I started this thread.

Im sorry if question seemed petty or was an attack. It wasnt meant to be. I have never been to an orientation with more than 6 people and none has ever not made it through and I havent driven OTR since 06 so I forget that compared to driving local where when you're in orientation, you're hired. Whereas OTR, there is still an ongoing process behind the scenes. Thanks for clearing that up! The reason why I would be selling everything is that I quite honestly forgot that the process isnt over yet. As I said, Its been a while. Plus I really dont have much anyway and the local Schneider yard said they couldnt remember a tanker ever coming through there. So unless I want to do dryvans over with, I have to move and I dont want have to worry making a $2000+ round trip for a couch that is going to loaded with spiders from the storage shed LOLSorry for the hijack :(But I'm excited! I filled out my app and I have a telephone interview set for monday.

As far as the weight if I remember right it's something like 25 35 and 50 lbs. You pick them up and walk, you pick them up and hold them at like waist height and I think you pick them up to shoulder height. I believe you also pick up a bag weighing around 50 to 60 lbs and have to raise it up to head height. Nothing major. There is a video on the web site about it.
