I'm sick of these #### megas just abusing good drivers that try to stay loyal

$850 per week average gross? good reasons to stay home at night. im on track to make that working for a small mom and pop driving class B dump truck. i get $16 per hour, he is going to pay me $80 per week for health ins because my wife covers it, and im looking at probably about 8 hours of overtime.
$16x40=$640
$80=$720
overtime (8 hours) $192
total around $912
now tell my WHY i would even want OTR, even without a family. i have a family so forget it, but if i did not i still wouldnt want to leave. i know some people enjoy it, but i just wonder WHY these companies dont realize they arent paying enough and that's why they have a B.S. driver shortage. they engineer their own problems and the method to fix it is easy. PAY significantly more. pay for waiting, pay for resets ect ect -

So, why is that not really, really low pay for teams?Friday Thanks this. -

i just dont see how its remotely worth it. i can drive a dump truck and make more money. what does that tell you? i had fun at work today. i left out at 6:30AM by 11:30AM i was in my camaro on the way home, gorgeous sunny day t tops out ect ect. i got home and worked on my farmall cub for a little while and then took my son in the pool, which is sparkling clean right now. my lawn is mowed. frankly none of this would get done with a pregnant wife. WHY WHY would i give that up for the same amount of money if not less money.
neither the megas NOR the OTR lifestyle offers a single thing to entice drivers to stay. i stayed at werner long enough to complete the training period and bailed, just long enough to get some shots at local work. barely long enough.
maybe they wouldn't need these absurd government funded training programs if they paid drivers properly. OTR should pay at least double what local work pays but sadly not even close.
i had 8.5 hours of overtime working 5 days. i cant complain, in fact when things are going well at work im having fun. i dont dread getting in my truck at the beginning of the day because i know at the end of the day im getting my car and going home. i get to do other things at work as well, they other day i was moving dirt around with a skid steer, kind of fun. -
sevenmph Thanks this.
