You are so rite, they're not worth my time... I'm just on here tryin to give fair warning is all and if they can't handle the truth then let them try it out. And I bet you they'll be singing a different tune.

There are some people in this thread that know more about what I do for my trucker than that goat berry does. I know of more than one that wish they had as much support at home as my husband does.

I wouldn't worry about it @ Dragon. I personally know how hard it is to hold down the fort while they are away. Most days when I drag myself out of bed @ 6 all I really want to go is go back to bed & sleep till he gets home but I know I can't. Not all trucker wives are fat, slutty ###### who run around & cheat. That assumption is just as immature & INSULTING as the rest of the INSINUATIONS that were made. Those insinuations prove my point from a couple post back about PUNKS who are to chicken**** to come out & say what they want so they say it in a round about way. That way later, when confronted on them he can say "OH thats not what I said". Here's a little tip, SAY WHAT YOU MEAN AND MEAN WHAT YOU SAY ######! Notice its said on a message board tho, oh how conveinent! Those comments only further prove my point from the beginning of the thread that some people are only concerned with the bad stuff that happens when it directly effects their own lives. When it comes to other people having to deal with it tho it's a different story. They're just thin skinned :smt017 If people would just treat people the way they'd want to be treated things wouldn't be so bad. But apparently, if you follow that rule, that makes you less of a trucker? And if you get upset when you're disrespected that makes you ....ummmm....A Pansy? :smt102 And when you talk ##### about the air force or the navy, or excuse me, INSINUATE that they are not as tough because they're not "marines" :salute: without being brilliant enough to think about how there may be folks on here with kids who are in those groups (contrary to how much of a genius you THINK you are) be prepared to have ruffled a few feathers! The excuse we get is "Just chalk it up sister, that's just the way it is?" :smt104 Then when this happens to them or someone they care about & they get the same treatment, they're ....uhhhh....SURPRISED! If you always do what you've always done you'll always get what you've always got! <--Remember that when it's your kid or your brother OR YOU thats getting treated this way. Remember how you told everyone else it was just part of the industy and to "Chalk it up". Oh but I forgot, we don't know what were talking about do we? Most of us have only already worked for the company or have a loved one that has. That includes the wives that do all the work that still needs to get done while our men are away. Oh but I forgot about that little thing between your legs that make you oh so much more superior to us, didn't I. :notworthy:
Very Sad. All's I can come up with is that some of you people have OBVIOUSLY not been raised right. Hopefully you don't breed.

I did a year with Werner to start and made $49k.

I'll tell you all what I've told about a half dozen newbies and trainees to Werner that I've run across who were stressed out and ready to kill someone.

You WANT someone who will run you ragged during training. Yes, it's grueling. Yes, it's unpleasant. And of course, don't drive if you are sick or going to fall asleep. But alot of trainers are lazy and won't let you log the hours you need to in order to get out on your own. Mine was a drinker and wanted to stop at every bar and casino we found. He would get rip roaring drunk and then pass out in the sleeper for a day or two. I just took over operations and would wake him from his stupor when I needed to ask him something.

It was tremendously stressful. But I knocked out those hours fast.

When you complete your hours, they will send you a message saying that no trucks are available and you need to log another 100 hours or something. Can't remember the number. That's B.S....there are a hundred brand new trucks sitting at their Springfield terminal. They just want you to keep hauling their freight for nothing.

When you get out on your own... with your own truck... they will give you about 1000 miles a week. See, these large carriers have no incentive to keep you. They are tied up with the training schools. And they get a Government kick-back for training a certified driver.

Follow me now... You owe them $6,000 for the CDL school. You just spent several months hauling their freight for practically nothing. And they just got a sweet chunk in a tax deduction from the Government for training and certifying a person in a trade that is economically vital.

Why would they want to keep you and pay you now? When they could just make you quit and find some other sucker to repeat the same process with?

See? That's why these large carriers are called Driver Farms. The beancounters figured out they could clean up with the CDL school, the Training period. Why pay you now? They can find some new guy to haul their freight for nothing as a trainee and get another Gov't kickback.

So here's what I did and what I say you should do.

Call driver placement every day. Sometimes multiple times a day. And ask for the Perdue Chicken account. It's night driving... smelly chicken plants. So alot of people don't want it. But it's 3000 miles a week. Very busy.

Do that for six months and start calling Tyson. Tyson pays about .40 cents a mile and they have buku miles as well. Plus they take better care of their people than Werner (who doesn't?)

It's a very hard year and a half... but I'm telling you that you can go from trainee to making $70k a year within two years.

I did all that, did two years with Tyson... Now am pulling Tankers and making even more.

It's possible. You just gotta fight and not let them win. As I've explained... that's kinda what they want.

Thanks for the info, thats what I expect it to be grueling and dedication to get my feet wet, thing with me is not many companies hire where I live, I am to far from there hiring range...I have talked to close to 200 companies and Werner is one that hires driver students and that is about it where I live, down in the bottom south east corner of Arizona....Heartland express hires here but you have to have a year experience before they hire, gordon trucking inc wont hire until i have 6 months. So I am just trying to get my feet wet or my foot in the door to move on to better companies and I really don't have much choices out there for many companies, still trying to find some, Roehl would have hired me but they don't hire out of AZ, same with Wel and a few others and because i live about 60 miles from tucson and about 160 from pheonix not many will hire a student driver in my area. So far it looks like i have to go the Werner way but its all good because most companies that hire where I live want at least 3 months to a year of experience I am still putting apps in and calling other companies to try to find the best one for me but so far it looks like I have to go with werner enterprises.

Oh, and one last thing my little Werner trainees.... Do NOT go to Mississippi to sub on the Dollar General account. That is also a scam. They will send you a message saying, "Make a $1000 a week helping out our Dollar General account."

So you go and unroll those friggin' carts in Mississippi in August. Fun.

Then, the morning of pay day the Dollar General people will tell you they don't need you anymore. You'll go back to your old dispatcher and by the time you are several hundred miles away... you check your payroll info realize you just unloaded all those trucks for $400.

I had to call everyone in the company and argue and fight. Finally, I found the secretary for a very high up guy who took pity on me and looked into it. After months they finally coughed up the other $600. But that was a miracle.
