Yes... Yes they do. One time I picked up an empty trailer at a junk yard. (That was my load, an empty trailer.) and it had a busted spring brake chamber and a flat tire. oh and a missing handle for the landing gear. 2 hours later they got to me.
And really I didn't read Forums. I talk to a lot of drivers and they said Werner was a good starter corp. And it was good training, they worked ya, I driven on Ice, snow, in rain, fog, and even Ice Fog. which i thought was the coolest thing ever. I loved that my mirrors and windows started to ice over. It was eerie. I love driving. I just hate being lied to, and beating around the bush i don't do. Be direct with me, tell me whats up. Don't BS me. And if you do BS me, i am just going to sling it right back at you. My last load was Sunday, and it was a high value just in time load. When i picked up the trailer at the terminal, it was damage to the point it could not be on the road. looked like someone backed into something and a piece of the frame was touching the tires. It took them 8 hours to fix it. After arguing for most of the day with dispatch about getting me off that load, cause it is a shag load and I had another decent pre assign load after the shag load to do. So they told me they are not taking me off the shag load even though they will take the 1000+ mile load from me if it takes to long. Finally they got it fixed and I headed out of the terminal. Got to the CON. and they were closed. reason? It was Sunday. Shipping and receiving hours are from 7AM to 10PM MON-FRI. I told them, they took the big load away from me and told me I will have to go back tomorrow. a shag load. 40 bucks. I didn't even get paid for my troubles. I drop the trailer, clean out my truck, and turned it in. There is more then that, but why rant? I just figure two weeks of dealing with clueless dispatchers 2000 miles away, office drones, pissed off security guards and retarded mechanics that dont care about anyone except for themselves was more then enough to figure out this company. (DISCLAIMER: I am sure not everyone is an idiot, mentally handicap, or is selfish there. I meet some awesome truckers that went above and beyond helping me and answer all the questions i had, even when dispatch, and the office, mechanical personal didn't. but there has to be some brains in the office/mechanical departments. I have not seen any to date though. like Existence of Big foot, i will take your word for it.)

Hey Brew,
If you could do it over again, who would you have gone with? Just found out the company I was leaning towards doesn't hire in my area. -
Actually, All the major companies have their own faults and benefits. CRST offer me a 2000 bonus after training, thing was they wanted me to go team with someone I didn't know and I had no clue when I was going home or how. But Werner was 500 bucks (before taxes) but they offer me 1500 (500 a month for 3 months) for being p team drivers. Was going to do that. Um Swift had something with Military Education, where Werner had the GI bill 1000 bucks a month thing going. But that drains the GI bill. I heard a lot of good things with Schneider. Only reason i didnt go was they told me that not a lot of freight was coming in/out of my area. And getting me home on time might be delayed. (Imaging that a company recruiter up front about things and not screwing you around.) But going to the Schneider terminal in Atalanta (Dropping off their new trailers.) that place looked worst then the Werner Terminal. Also they were late calling me back. I was in orientation when they called. If i just waited Maybe I will still be out on the road. So im guessing Schneider. But I heard bad things about them to. so... my advice, just look before you jump and research research and research. then decide. but you wont learn a lot until your actually on the road. but look at the company policy and reviews.
Also I am going for a job interview for a local company Tuesday so i am happy about that.Last edited: Mar 1, 2013

Thanks! Why does it seem like such a crap shoot if you get a company that fits you or not? Every company I have worked for (in the business world) expected you to adapt to them, but they also gave in to some of your needs also.

I was driver, safety, 0/0 retired with grace. Any huge company someone will have a problem with. I'm stone cold Trucker, management & I butted heads till I said enough. The royals that run the place think that they are there better than a lowly driver. I hold no bad feelings. Little army's are formed in any large company. I made sure the drivers were treated right, & the best rigs for a fleet. Every company on earth has one goal, Make Money. You drive to make money. There's a balance.
