My experiences so far as a CDL student

Congrats.................... I guess you found a way to 'keep your heart in your chest"!

 

Most newbies have a different picture of what CDL school is supposed to be like or how they think it will all go down. I believe most think that its going to be very formal and more college or school like in the process.

Truth is, its not! By no means are you a professional driver once you leave that school and are issued your Class A license! These CDL mills are there to teach you the very basics and let you practice just enough to be able to pass your road test and obtain your Class A. Basically they help you obtain your license and mainly prepare you to go with a trainer of your chosen company. In fact, you are going to learn more on day one with your trainer in the real world then you did the entire three weeks of driving school!

There's nothing wrong with that its just that most newbies don't picture it as how its going to go down. It actually is probably better this way because you would much rather have training under real world circumstances then in a classroom or abandoned parking lot with cones. You would be surprised how much better your backing skills are if there is a truck on either side of you instead of little orange cones!

Like I said, there's nothing wrong with these schools, in fact I had a blast when I attended my session, its just that people are expecting a little bit more of a formal type deal.
