the best company i drove for was crete carrier corp and celadon trucking inc. they both treated me like a person not like a dog or a number celadon may have you run canada but the loads paid more and it was always good runs from laredo tx to canada and you even meet your dispatcher and you even meet the ownersteve russle he eats lunch with all the drivers and even talks to them not hides in his office . at crete carrier you dont meet the owner but you can tell he cares for his drivers because the equeptment you drive is all in good shape even the trailers . and there both have excelent home time and they get you home on time . but i recomend any new driver to drive for celadon trucking and crete carrier corp if they want respect and treated like a human .and you wont look like this at the end of each day

I drove for Crete for 9-months before a family emergency forced me to resign in 2009. I loved it there! I was paid $.39/mile practical miles, and the only problem I had was my idle time was too high. Sure we had to sit more than I wanted, but at that time all companies were sitting more than the drivers wanted. I would recommend them to anyone.

Is Celadon any good?

I was living in Laredo,TX.in 1986 driving oilfield rig-up trucks when Celadon started up there.I was among the first forty drivers they hired.I was there almost a year before they even had a safety man.The first was one of the drivers Galen Oliphant.
It was a great job fiancally. They didn't take out taxes and we were paid immediately upon our return from MI.for our previous trip out from Laredo.Back then they had only teams and we drove cabover Internationals that were leased from Gelco Leasing we were pulling 42' trailers that they bought used from Yellow freight.
When Celadon first started buying traliers they were 48'and we all thought they were HUGE.After they got some trailers they began buying new Peterbilt conventionals. We only hauled for Chrysler back then Laredo to Detroit or Chicago area only. The money was really good. -
im still with celadon and im verry proud to be with a company whome respects you as a driver the reason why i left crete because the require hazmat on your lic and i had a hard time passing the test they give you 45 days to get it i stayed with them for over 1 year i quit them because i thought the were gonna fire me for not having it on my lic they told me they werent going too but i got paranoid and i quit but ill tell you if your getting your cdl do not go to a company called paschall trucking (ptl in murray ky) thats the worst company i drove for they treat you like dirt their and lie just to get you in their truck by the way good luck getting cdl hope you do well

they do have an idel policy but their getting rid of the old trucks and all their new trucks have either an apu or a battery pack which is like an apu but dont put out the power just the heat and a/c

when i drove for crete i drove for the national dry van fleet (48) states they have other divisions like shaffer trucking thats refrigated division and they also have a flatbed division called hunt transportation you dont need haz mat for flatbed i loved driving for crete but i had troble getting the haz mat so i quit. celadon is a good company the like you to be able to run canada but crossing the boarder is easy once youve dont it a few times and the runs are excelent they have a nice terminal with dorm rooms in indiapolis in they feed you 3 meals a day in orientation and the trucks and trailers are all in verry good shape all their terminals have an inspection bay and their mechanics are cool they dont mind fixing anything on your truck. now at crete they feed you 3 meals a day in orientation they put you in a nice motel their trucks and trailers are in verry good shape they treat you like a driver with respect their verry laid back like celadon they care for your saftey i recomend both of these compaines for you to drive for the choice is up to you trust me youll thank me later
