Orientation means I'm committed? Thats a new one on me. I have asked around about ffe but with little to no responses. Apparently a 2 year old thread is supposed to be sufficient for me

Since the internet has been popular I research any co I am looking at hard. Even if I personally know drivers that work for them. Research does not take long. In researching your posts I have found things like do they have pete's? What is the chance I would get one? etc. My last OTR gig was a topshelf fancy long nose pete. Makes no difference to me what I drive. What I want to know are they a good co? Pay? Hometime etc?
If I was scheduled for a monday morning orientation I would not be asking about them like I was still deciding. I would be wanting to know details of the orientation. That is just me tho. -
I suppose I was just trying to convince myself I had made a decent decision. I don't have a whole lot of options but I don't want to make a mistake.

I apologize, I'm a bit stressed with my non trucking job and over reacted to some of the posts on here about them

The NEW (25cpm) drivers are getting ran to death, those of us slightly higher (29-31cpm range) are getting decent miles if you're single with no bills. Are they a good company? That's hard to say about a large company to be honest, SWIFT is a bad company IMO. However, there are drivers for them like TexasNana who are extremely happy with them. The same goes for FFE, I am not happy with them and I can name a dozen others who are the same, but I can also point out drivers who love the company.
It all depends on how you get along with your FM and dispatchers, if your FM actually cares about their fleet, etc... I can wish you luck, but stating " I don't want to make a mistake" at this point is way too late in the game. Also having already been planned for orientation they have already spent money on you so backing out would likely result in a minor ding in your dac. -
I believe they told me i was in the higher pay range you spoke of, and I'm going to orientation monday so I will keep you updated if you like.

What are they gonna pay you? that way i can tell you how you will run

I worked for them last summer (mid May to mid October) and was at the top pay for experienced drivers. $.35 cpm. It wasn't great, but I was laid off from hauling gas when I went there and needed a place I could bring my dog Jake. I did orientation in Chicago and it was pretty boring. Lots of paperwork to go through, boring videos, going through policies that are the same as every other company. Was assigned a truck right out of and hit the road the next day.
I did pretty good there, but I had a good fleet manager. In the 5 months I was there I grossed a little over $22,000. I stayed out 3-4 weeks at a time and that seemed to make it easier to get the miles I needed.
In October I got the chance to get back to hauling gas and wasn't passing that up. But I had a decent experience with FFE. -
They were my first choice when I wanted to run OTR at the age of 21, I flew to Dallas and immediately knew I made a mistake, the director of orientation asked if we knew what FFE stood for, of course Frozen Food Express, without hesitation he replied "no, Finally Found Employment", not a good start. I went through the entire orientation and on the last day got a call from a company in Florida, where I lived, that was willing to give me a chance, so without much consideration I hopped a flight back to Florida to start orientation with the new company the next week. FFE did report on my dac, although I was never issued pay or put on the payroll, that was a few years back and I've been comfortable with my current carrier for a while now, so I've never went as far as to fight the DAC report. A little long winded I know, but I'm not too fond of FFE, but best of luck to you.
wpmclam Thanks this.
