my first 3406E Infame Help?

    I can do this for you im right outside of littlestown pa. $2600 for basic inframe , more if it needs counterbore cut. down time if i have all the parts is 3 days, you supply parts CAT PARTS ONLY

    I have been talking to greatlakes diesel - rick. he has a long block and he will put my electronics from ecm to injectors on it. the 3406E long block crank, rods,pistons have been balanced and he says they are from an acert engine. for $15k plus $3k installation plus my core he will put this engine in my truck.
    Then he was saying for $10k he can do an inframe on my block.
    3406 - 5EK Engine Inframe list:
    Reman. Cylinder packs - balanced pistons & rods
    Reman. Head w/ new Valves, Seats, Guides & Cam bearings
    Mich. 77 Rods & Main bearings
    Mich. 77 Thrust washers
    New Harmonic balancer (Liquid filled)
    Reman. Oil Pump
    Reman. Fuel Pump
    Reman. Water Pump
    Machined & Polished Camshaft
    Machined & Polished Cam Rollers
    New stainless steel exhaust studs & nuts, bolts
    Machined Exhaust Manifold
    DBL Checked ECM Parameters to OEM Specifications
    Checked & Bench tested Injectors
    Complete Gasket kit
    CAT filters & Shell Rotella oil
    CAT long life anti freeze
    Cut Counter Bores & Install repair Sleeves
    Flush out Radiator
    New Oil pressure line to back of Cylinder Head
    Flush out Air to Air Intercooler
    Steam clean, paint & detail

    Total cost : $10,000*

    *The price is contingent upon good core parts

    atleast CAT could include NEW cylinder packs, not reman.
    the more i look at the literature, the more i wish i could do my own inframe.

    Lightfoot, PLEASE do a search on GLD. I know of no one with anything good to say about them. I know several people that have plenty of bad experience with 'em.

    on the oil cooler in a 3406E, that is the long horizontal piece on the right side of the engine? at what point should that be replaced? i assume if it starts to leak there is a mixing of the oil and coolant. how do you know it comes from the cooler and not from some other point in the engine? thanks

    If your oil cooler fails, typically it will put oil in your water. Yes it is the long cylindrical piece on the lower passenger side.
