FWIW; I was not charged one penny for July, and my overall idle was nearing 40%
Simply make sure you are asking for idle credit every day. They cannot give you the full break, but they will help as they can. Spent 4 days straight in TX, and was in 100degrees+ for 9 days straight. I have only been charged once, in the winter, and they paid me back (snowed-in in Sioux Falls for a weekend -20deg)

Platinum; no one likes to hear about a driver having a bad experience with any company, but as I said in another thread...there has to be something you're not telling us.

Just a wheel holder I ain't missing anything , I talked to my dm every day about it, and QC info, the terminal manager said he was to blame for it.

May is not a bad company and my experiences may not be yours I am just blogging what I have encountered I like May I just don't like their slow responses and important issues that cost me money directly or indirectly., I have spoke to many others who got hired before me that get their inverter within 8 days, and many roll 2800 miles. I am just not one of them.

All you prospects read this Quoted from Scooter Jones, Excellent description,

You are allotted up to 25% idle time in the hottest month of the year (August)...less in other mos. accordingly.

The idle time % decreases (very slowly) as you drive. Get into very hot conditions and you can idle over 25% in no time.

Idle times at May are collected every two weeks on Saturday morning. The Idle % is reset to zero and you start over again.

There is a function tab on the Qualcomm that shows the amount of idle % and the gallons used while idling.

Any gallons used over 25% within that two week period is charged out to you at 75% of the fuel cost, which they calculate using the national average. Not their actual cost, but the national average which is higher.

As to home time, 1 day per week out. So, 4 days home time in 17 days out would not be accurate. On the 48 you are required to request time off at least 2 weeks before you want it.

    Hope that helps.

Platinum, I am glad to hear that you got things worked out with your dm and terminal manager.

We have to stay positive and keep our dm and ocm in the loop. We are 1 in a hundred+ drivers and we can get lost in the fold.

May actually charges their drivers to idle the tractor? LOL thats feaking awesome. Anybody stupid enough to hang around for that deserves exactly what they get.

I would be gone like donkey kong, and they'd be guessing where that tractor and trailer was parked. Wouldn't be a thing chicken wing....

I agree that charging for idle time is ridiculous. It's a deal breaker for me. And even if you could "get permission" to idle, who wants to go through that? Constantly worried and feeling guilty just because want to use the air conditioner? And having to keep track of idle percent and outside temperature every time you want to turn on the air conditioner. Absurd!

And what about safety? Shouldn't drivers be getting a good nights sleep?

I am sure they have the same policies in effect at the corporate headquarters to conserve energy.:biggrin_25520:
