$1,400 bring home is before taxes.... he needs to subtract $500 a week for his SE tax and regular tax, then his maintance, ect ect... he's lucky if he gets to keep $1,000 a week. i made that as a local gravel hauler each week as a company driver.
My first lease purchase.

Roehl does leasing. It's .91-.87cpm. Most of the guys I'm friends with that lease to them take home $1200-1700/week, that's after all taxes, truck payment, insurance, everything. Their also leased through the company. Personally I'm thinking of buying my own truck through a dealership like lone mountain or Lyons, THEN taking that truck to Roehl or other company of I so choose.
I do like that Roehl has a walk away lease, meaning at any time you can turn the truck in without anything going against your credit. Although you have to turn the truck in being in the same condition it was leased. Which is almost impossible with normal wear and tear.
If I decide to lease with Roehl or any company I want to have my own truck, that way they don't know what my weekly payment is on it. Plus I can do with it what I choose, i wanna take my truck home and park it in my front yard.
When it comes to leasing, I'll buy my truck from somewhere other than the company. It's pretty much what I was told by guys on here, even Roehl told me they encourage me to buy elsewhere because I should have a lower payment.SHC Thanks this. -
i honestly thing the best 1st truck is one that you can buy with cash.
Say you spend $15,000 on a truck. As long as you can run it for 48 weeks out of the year w/o and MAJOR problems, you will well ahead of the lease guys. Then you can look into something nicer or better. The problem is all these new guys want a brand new shinny truck and don't think about the road ahead. the 1st year is the hardest for ANY O/O and not having a truck payment makes it 90% easier.....as long as the old thing holds up
DrtyDiesel, Professional-Trucker, jjranch and 1 other person Thank this. -
They will know exactly what your payment is and what the deal price was, regardless if you buy elsewhere, that is information you will share with Rhoel in order to sign the lease I ran with a company in my paid for truck a little over 2 years at practical miles 90 cpm empty, 95 cpm loaded + fuel surcharge (45 cpm 1st week of Sept '11) and I burned through $15k startup cash in no time. Admittedly my truck was a huge money pit that first year but I was #### near broke when I quit them. And I dont have any toy payments not living beyond my means. Would clear $2k every week, that was before maintenance and taxes. It is a lose, lose situation leasing on with a company like Rhoel and thinking you are ever going to do anything besides wear a good truck out and have nothing to show for it at the end of it's life.

I stand corrected. I got off the phone with our o/o division and your 110% right.
One truck I'm looking at is a '94 Pete 379exhd with a rebuilt 3406, rebuilt 10 speed, new clutch, and the interior and exterior is in good condition. It has all new engine accessories.
The dealership wants $16k for it. The rebuilt engine has 200,000 miles and the truck itself has 1.3 million. I can get it for about $250/week with $2k down. for my first truck I dont wanna have a $500+ payment.SHC Thanks this. -
$1000 a week and own a 2010 t660 In 46 months $10,000 ballon from maint.fund, I don't think thats a bad deal. I researched alot of lp programs and the only one that would work for me would be ACT.DrtyDiesel Thanks this.

Well I can't get that Pete I mentioned, it has a 275" wheel base. Roehl requires 265" or less for van and reefer fleets

Thats 196000 dollars.Thats ridiculous.Joetro and AfterShock Thank this.

Sometimes you gotta bite the bullet if you don't have the credit I guess

Very true,I think I would be looking for an older one with a shorter term.
