    Agreed, I'm looking for a 1994-2000 as my first truck.

    A 2000 379 with a 6NZ would be sweet, especially if it was in good shape!!

    Where you come up with that number?? That $ 1000 a week is his take home pay not the truck payment.

    1,000 a week for 46 months + 10,000 buyout
    46x4.3=197,800+10,000=$207,800

    If you ever plan on leasing on with a common carrier, THEY might care how old your tractor is. Usually 5-7 years old as a maximum is what I see from the bigger fleets. Some will make exceptions for units that are cherry and go through their fleet inspection.

    For only about $20k you can find a 2004-2005 model tractor in decent shape. Just take your time shopping and be ready with cash in hand because the really good deals don't last long.

    Any company that won't lease on an older truck is probably not worth leasing to.

    Why is it that the companies that pay the worst are the ones with the most rules and bulls_it to deal with?

    Beats me. Maybe it's part of their safety programs or something. I couldn't keep the lights on running for those folks. Not to mention some of them neuter the truck making it even worse. :biggrin_25513:

    his payment @ $573 per week with a 46 month term calc's like this

    46 months- is 200 weeks(non stop) =$114,600.00 + $10,000.00 for $124,600.00 for a three year old truck.

    He needs to investigate the section 179 deduction, save his pennies for the next 11 months , and come Dec'12- buy something(anything) <strike>used</strike> better.
