Does W/S have seperate divisions for LTL and Truckload? Or is it a mixed bag? Do the LTL runs involve handling the freight?

We have OTR and local jobs. We do OTR LTL and regular freight as well. The only freight you have to handle in the LTL stuff, which is Furniture or Carpet and its not really that bad and you make $20 or $25 per stop depending on where the load origionated.

Seems like moving furniture and carpet would be tough duty for middle aged boys like myself. What method of moving the furniture and carpet is used? Complete newby here, so my questions may seem silly. Have you had the opportunity yet to travel in and out of Montana? I have a house out there.

Well I use my hands and whatever other part of my body it takes to get it out of the trailer and the customer usually uses there ##* and there shoulder leaning on somthing watching me do it lol:biggrin_2559: Some guys carry dollies with them to move the furniture I just haven't gotten one yet..

I'm 5' 7" and 110lbs and I can do this, so I'm sure you or anyone else for that matter can do it. Granted I am only 21 tho lol

Nope I haven't been to MT yet, I've been trying to get up there to get some things taken care of but now that winter is here Im not looking forward to it anymore lol

AT allow me if you don't mind, I'm middle aged and I have had no problem with any loads I had deliveries on, most of the time the warehouse guys jump right in the trailer and start unloading, it may be because I'm a bit slow and walk with a gimp that tells them "If they want there stuff off my truck today they better get it themselves." I had one place that was a cheap a#$ that didn't have a fork lift with a stinger(bar to move carpet) but they used chains and a front end loader. I hope this helps. If we can answer any more questions please let us know. Thanks.

The Volvo's should start automatically if the batteries are going low. Unless it is a really stripped model. You do need to keep some of the long jumper cables in your truck though. Especially in the winter.

Walstib congrats on the whole "trucker cherry busting"! Rest assured though, there are a lot more cherries to bust! One cherry at a time! Unless you happen to pick up a load of cherries! If you are able to adjust your schedule try getting to the truckstop before 3pm. That will make parking a hell of a lot easier! Another thing you could do is try to take your showers in the middle of the day and park somewhere else to sleep. As you get more familiar with the country you will find yourself lots of little secret quiet spots to park. Maybe even with a good restaurant or something close by! I used to keep a little book and every time I found a spot like that I would write it down. It was so great my wife wanted to publish it but then my secret spots wouldn't be so secret! Well not quite secret but less crowded. Another thing that helps is make friends wherever you go. Chances are you will most likely go there again and now you have a friend there. This opens up doors for parking, rides, getting loaded/unloaded early etc... Good luck!

Well, this has been a different day...Get unloaded on time this morning, shoot over to the Taylor terminal and as I'm pulling in get my next run...Take mt trailer to GE in Bucyrus, OH, bobtail back to Taylor...I get to Bucyrus, no problem but I can't drop the trailer...The 5th wheel won't unlock...I spent an hour messing with it before calling the shop and now I'm sitting in a rest area about 15mils away(couldn't get service on phone after I hung up with the shop) waiting on road side to show up...AND I just got my next load which goes from Warren, MI to Memphis, TN...I have until noon tomorrow to pick it up so hopefully this is a simple fix...Stay tuned!!

oh man i dont think anyone can get those volvos undone the first try...if it is actually stuck you can try to rock the truck and pull on it again. any truck, not just volvos. i have had to do that a couple times.
