My first post...

Thanks for the add. After a few years of consideration, and lots of praying with my wife, and the birth of my daughter on February 2, 2019, I have finally decided to attend trucking school. I’m located 25 minutes northwest of Syracuse, NY.

Obviously with a young daughter and wife, I would like a local position after school, BUT, through lots of prayer with my wife, we are completely OK with me going OTR for a years worth of experience. We have a strong marriage.

I’ve done a lot of research but I would like to hear from you guys too on tips when getting into trucking. Are there local companies that hire out of school in upstate NY? If not, which companies would be preferred OTR or regional up here? I would like to do tanker or flatbed.

My dad use to be a delivery driver for Upstate Farms before he moved to Florida a few years ago and I was always fascinated by the trucks he used to drive. I also drive a straight truck at work and I love driving.

I appreciate it! Looked at Gypsum’s website and they have a location literally 5 mins from in Baldwinsvile, NY.

 

Right on the edge of 50 miles as my dad used to live in Farmington. I will have to check them out as well.
