    riverrat... it was meant for someone else who said he was from Richmond, but I can't find the post now to get his handle. I'm in the application process with TMC and you've been a huge help with getting an idea of what to expect. But it would be cool to sit down with a guy from Richmond just to pick his brain.

    I was making that on linehaul and I was in and out of Chicago 2-4 times a week seeing as I live 30 miles west of it. I did great on linehaul in Chicago. I took the JD deal just for something different.

    I live in the PNW Seattle area. Do you know if this is out of the "hiring area"? Does TMC operate out here?

    Thanks;
    I did talk to TMC and they don't. Talked to System and filling out application. Getting hired fresh from school is looking to be a bit more difficult than I expected especially if trying to avoid the companies most say stay away from. Really wanting to do flatbed so as to keep physically active, but getting started is most important.

    TMC is very much Military freindly and the background will help you fit in well. Structure and discipline that was learned in the military will lend well to driving for TMC. Now, with that said they are not drill instructors or overbearing jerks at all but they do have rules. I think that the structure that TMC has washes a lot of guys out because they don't like it.
    I have no military background at all but I consider myself a structured person so I enjoy it. TMC also honors its Military veteran drivers with a special decal on your truck representing the branch of service you were in. Most will say "big deal, it's just a decal". But consider that they have a reputation for not allowing ANY modification to their trucks in any way, it shows the respect they have for our Military.

    Good luck and thank you for your service!

    Haz/mat,,,,yes. Tanker, triples/doubles are pointless with TMC and will not get you any favors with them because there is no point, its flatbed. If you get in you will need to get your TWIC as well as passcard/passport. I want to think it is required now but not positive. I came in with the full load of endorsements and will not renew any except Haz/mat, TWIC and my passport was just renewed for 10 years.

    Good luck!
