Not unrealistic at all OTR. Bottom line... You get what you pay for (think about that) Those who hustle can do very well for a company man just starting out.
$950 every 2 weeks is not very much. That's only $475 a week. I would hope that you can make more then that once you're finished with training. Also if you're already driving, have experience, then you should not have to go the full route that new, recent student graduates do. They have another program for experienced drivers. I think it's basically learning load securement, and maybe a very short trip with a trainer. curious as i have no training and no cdl a....there is a driving school they say they go thru near my old hometown back in tn....do i pay for that or is it they hire me and send them the bill or what....just need to know before a final choice is made....thanks and be safe
Most of the schools they recruit from require you to handle the payment or financing of it. They have a reimbursement program. Up to $5,000 I believe it is. They just give you a certain amount once a month and it is up to you to pay off your loan if you have one. I`ve heard of a few places where they actually hire you and send you to train. I don`t know where those certain schools are. You can call them and ask them about it.
I been driving 1 year with this company in a non cdl box truck...been working 5 years on the dock. Routes consist of front royal, nova, and the va beach coastal runs...if making 800-900 starting I'm good then.
Yup...$475 a week bout sums it up..my job doesn't believe in raises so I'm in cdl school now . My experience is 1 year of driving a non cdl box truck tho but I know about load securment. My job has flatbeds and haul plastic, steel pipe and pallets and I always have to help the drivers strap down the loads...been doing that for 5 years. If I can get into that experience driver program that would be great.
From TMC's Apprentice Driver Program's webpage: If you are a recent trucking school graduate, TMC would like to welcome you to our organization. TMC has maintained a training program for graduates since the early nineties and we offer tuition reimbursement for those who qualify. TMC has the premier flatbed orientation and training program in the industry today! We know from experience that in order for you to reach your true potential you need more then just a pat on the back and a welcome aboard speech. We provide a paid two week orientation program that consists of 4 days of classroom instruction, 3 days of load securement training and 5 days of equipment familiarization (yard training). The most reliable information will come from their recruiters. Call them.
