When did they start the paperless logs?

Started over a year ago. Starting around the end of last year, all new drivers were put on E-logs. I know there are still some that have not switched over, not sure how many, and have heard no firm date as to when they will be 100% paperless.

Wow that sucks. I was there when it was not paperless.

I dont like that at all especially if your driving a company truck that only does like 65mph. I like being able to mark my logs as the speedlimits for the states I am going through. O well, does that make it harder to get miles?

Try 62 mph. It absolutely makes it tougher. Not necessarily to get the miles, but as far as getting a drop there quicker or being able to squeeze in a 34hr reset, it is more difficult. If you get slowed down, you have no way to make up any time. Unless you use the old shutting off the truck trick. Every time you stop you can gain 2 miles or 2 minutes, whichever, at 62 they are the same thing. With 2 hours to go and you are on pace to be 5 minutes short on drive time, better plan in a couple of stops. After starting again, you don't get put on the drive line for 2 miles down the road.

They want you to drive at 56-57. Gotta get that fuel bonus. Thats the pitch anyway. Well, thats just not me. I'm in too big of a hurry for that and 62 is bad enough. And while I have gotten the fuel bonus some weeks, its not something I try for. First of all its not enough money, and second, I figure the extra 5-6 mph gains enough over time to get more accomplished. 1 extra load a month can be more than the fuel bonus. The other thing to take into consideration is the fact that some weeks you will not get the bonus regardless of how fast you drive. Heavy loads, mountains, and head winds are out of my control and have a big impact on the fuel mileage whether you are driving 56 mph or not.

Hey Rusty...... If I am not mistaken, I read somewhere that if you don't average above 6.5mpg with Prime for more than 3 weeks, that they'll write you up and you could get terminated. I thought I read that somewhere on this thread or another one and either U2 or IP said it. Now, I think it is only mandatory for Company drivers and if you are a L/O you dont have to. Am I right U2 or IP?

Now Milskired---- I have heard you can get the miles with the E-Logs just have to plan better. The good thing about E-Logs is its near improbable to run illegal. I guess thats a good thing. Also, I think you could still average 3k miles a week w/ proper planning. I am not sure. Just got to work your ### off and be diligent.

I do know I read that IP when he was a company driver averaged 55-58 mph and was getting roughly 7 mpg and getting the fuel bonus. I am not sure how much the fuel bonus is though.

The only problem with averaging the 55-58 mph is when you are driving in states like NM and AZ where the speed limit is like 70-75 in the desert. I wonder what its like being the snail? Hahahaha or the Turtle...whichever.

BTW saw 3 Prime flatbeds drive through my town today. Strange. I guess flatbed division is picking up.

I guess you could get that 3K miles a week but I bet you couldnt do 4K.

What do the logs do if you pull off at say a rest area to use the bathroom which takes 5 minutes?
Or if you pull up to a truck stop to get a coffee?

How does it time those little 5 minute breaks?

The 4100 mile week I had, and my 3000+ mile average have all been done on e-logs. Dispatch and sales can look at my current log status at any time, and I've found that my utilization has risen due to it.

Off duty to the minute. In both of your examples, 5 minutes.

If I pull in, fuel, and drive out in 10 min... It's 10 minutes... Everything is to the minute.

Thats not bad then U2. I guess you could do pretty good with it then. I just like being able to pull into a rest stop really fast to take a leak and never mark it in the books. Just jump out do your stuff and hop in and keep on rollin.
