Once you get the hang of it double clutching is easy, but once you are out on your own you will be floating gears which is better for the truck anyhow as long as you aren't a serious grinder. The company I work for now does not allow double clutching, not that anyone does it anyhow.

Sorry you had a bad time at Prime notarps. Guess it was a good thing that you moved along - and again, hope things work well for you at Mercer or Maverick. Wherever it is you ended up...
OTOH, there's a lot of folks doing well at Prime. Some who fail miserably. Prime doesn't hand you a bag of magic loads that makes you an instant millionaire. They do give you the tools to make a success of yourself if you work hard, apply what you know and what they share with you. The fact that our American system is set-up to allow a hardworking person achieve great success, also brings the ability to fail as well. We see lots of that at Prime. For every guy that shows up over here on this forum with the tale of woe about how he bent over and got screwed, there are many still at Prime (or who have gone on to other things) who have had great success with the company. For those who can't make it work, perhaps one should look in the mirror to see whether some of the reason it didn't work might not just be staring back at them. Don't hear much of that around this forum do you? It's always how <insert company name> screwed them; and sometimes they're right. Sometimes folks at Prime don't get a fair shake. But they have a word for that... it's called life. Nobody ever said it was "fair" - well except for the fairy tales they teach in elementary school. Prime is a business, and like all businesses it comes with good and bad.
Personally, from my viewpoint, I see more good happening at Prime than bad. From your's I can understand why you're not a fan - I probably wouldn't be either, especially given the piss-poor batch of loads you had at Prime notarps. However, I'm truely sorry that seeing some folks succeed here builds such a great desire in you to tear the company down. Even the side of the business (the primary business) that you had no experience with.
DirtySideDown for one, U2, Trucker Mike, Sazook, Empton are all doing well, and we share that here. We state what is going on in our view, and take heat for telling it like we see it from a driver's seat. Got to hand it to those guys for continuing to post here despite the catcalls from the peanut gallery. None of these men are recruiters, nor am I. None of us are on this site trying to earn a bounty for bringing people over to Prime, even though we could all gain financially from it. I never have received a single dime from Prime for anyone who has made a decision to go with Prime. We are all very hardworking men, trying to make successes of ourselves. And we're getting there.
For the rest of you, I hope your situation is working as well as ours. If it isn't - you could always give Prime a try. Seems to be working out pretty well for us.
Good luck notarps.Last edited: Jun 13, 2010

Think what you want Notarps, but I am the one laughing all the way to the bank. My wife loves seeing that big settlement come in every week. -
Way more than someone who hasn't made stupid financial desicisions and got himself into a debt spiral needs in order to live pretty well... assuming that guy doesn't live in NYC or LA or someplace rediculously expensive like that... and, IMO, no over the road trucker should live in a place with a high cost of living. That just wouldn't make sense.
By the way, what I am bringing in is way more than I expected when I came to Prime. -
DirtySideDown Thanks this.
