If it ran fine before and is going much slower you have spyware issues most likely. Try lavasoft adaware.

See what's starting up that shouldn't be, in services hit 'hide all microsoft services' then carefully see what is turning on that doesn't need to. Then check the startup tab and do the same thing. I have had good luck running the name of an unknown service/startup item through a google search the figure out what it is and if I really need it to be turned on every time windows is.

Keep in mind that some of them ARE important for things like your printer, net, and so forth so don't go willy nilly clicking them all off. The simplist fix is a fresh install you can buy windows 7 on ebay for like 25.00, just find a seller selling off win cd keys and then download and burn windows 7 from microsoft... or torrent.... though I've yet to come across a good windows 7 'corp edition'

Cool, I was trying to remember how to do that. Now if I can just figure out how I turned on write verify so I can shut it off. Can't find the #### thing.
