Day 5&6: Not really too much update on. My husband and his instructor were supposed to leave yesterday, but got delayed to this morning. So yesterday was spent doing some driving and straight line backing. His instructor was VERY patient with him through everything. I am so glad about that. They left this morning for PA. Then to who knows where. I probably won't really be updating everyday, but every few days.
-
Does he Know what his instructors name is? Also how much how time did he get during the time he left home to Finishing all of his Training?
-
Yes I do know who his instructor is. I like the guy, and my husband and him get along great. My husband is not getting any home time until he gets in his own truck. We have decided to just knock out the training then he will come home for a few days. You can take home time during the instruction phase, however, you don't get the guaranteed pay for sitting at home. So it really is not worth it. Most guys want to get the instruction phase done as soon as they can, while learning all they can.

Just a heads up once he get his own truck his hometime counter will reset I did the same thing and when my fm let me go home for 3 days but when I came back on the road he informed me I had to make those days up since I didnt have any hometime so now im out for 5 weeks and taking 3 days because I have somethings to take care of and when I come back out I am goning to stay out 4 weeks and take 3 days off then my days will be made up
-
I would have talked to the Boss about that, thats bunk and your FM knows it.
-
Either way, we are not too concerned with that. We know and understand that, with trucking, home time is going to far and few between. It is not really a big deal.
-
Tells me that, that is a FM that does not care about his drivers. Not a good way to start a new driver out. My FM made sure I was on the way home the 1st week I had my truck to get it out fitted and to see the wife. He did the same to all my trainee's also. Builds driver loyalty.09mgray Thanks this.

It's the whole reset the hometime clock I have a problem with.
My FM makes it clear, while he tries to get you home shortly after you get your truck, if you don't have the days on the books you don't get the days at home.
days accumulated during TNT count (not PSD. PSD are not employees yet)
if you came off hometime a week before upgrade and maybe accumulate one more week before you he gets you home, that's two days. That's what you get.
You got to build a working relationship with him on your own before he'll spot you extra days or allow cash advances greater then the ones issued with your load. -
Yeap I agree Chuck. Never even considered TNTer's ability to go home during training. Always figured they would stick it out and run the whole time.
THanks
