Did you document the tank level with this weight? Full, half etc? I always did 2 tickets. Tanks full, and tanks approx 1/2 full, which gave me the flexibility of being able to know how much I could haul, and how far I was willing to let the tanks go, before I'd know it was too much weight. :)
Why half? Because it only takes getting stuck in a jam one time, to find out that you didn't have enough fuel. I tried never to let the tanks get below 1/2 full, as a precaution...especially after the first jerk I drove for who let the tanks run low. Tank slosh that kills the engine will convince you of the logic of never going below 1/2 tank. :)

This was just below half. About 80 gallons down. I have an apu so that gives me 500 pounds over roughly.

    CAXPT Thanks this.

I'm going to add at least 500 pounds....
I'll have to be careful with my weight if the rate con says 48k.

    CAXPT Thanks this.

They rarely way that much though, most places that load you that heavy are paying by weight and have onsite scales and know what you can take

    Great information thank you!
Talked to a broker recently they said they have a ton of farm tractors to haul. So I will most likely not be even close on weight with those loads.

    CAXPT Thanks this.

I weigh 32,500 empty with gear. Have no problem with "48,000" just go in with full fuel. I have a scale on truck and trailer. My last load a trip from NC to IL. I had 39,000 on my spread, truck total was 75,000. 3 weigh station green lights.
No need for a cat scale.

    CAXPT and scoobertdoo Thank this.

All it takes is being wrong once; I try to be *pretty* accurate on my weights. If a customer gives me 47,291 for the weight, I'm going to tell you exact. Contrarily, I've got one customer who's vendor is *supposed* to load approx 46k before pallet weights get factored. Those loads more often than not wind up being ~48500. I always ask on those loads that a carrier can scale 49k before sending them in. Just in case.

48500 is a lot of weight and I do not think a lot of O\O can scale that much.
The TMCs, Melton and Jordon seem to have the light weight no frills equipment for this kind of weight.
Am I missing somthing here ?
I know the weight don't pay anymore. But it will sure drain your tank faster and eat your tires.
