Yes they do....maybe they don't hire in the area the driver lives in....maybe they don't have the consistent miles. Schneider was not my first choice but the company I wanted to drive for did not have positions in my area. And there are plenty of companies that pay a lot less. The intent of the postings is to make sure a driver considering Schneider could use the postings to see what they could expect from Orientation to actually on the road. Softail hasn't hidden anything from the good to the bad. It helped me decide which company to drive for and hopefully helps others decide for themselves.

 

Yeah, switch over to heartless express. Get your 52 cents a mile and get 1500 miles a week while sitting the entire weekend. I call BS on the 40+cpm for noobs nonsense. Yeah, if you work for eurotrash trucking out of Chicago and are paid on a 1099 running double log books, or if you are northeast regional maybe.

 

Cool, is Schneider strict on idle & what are the trucks governed at?
will they let you take the truck home

 

Solos cruise is governed to 60mph, teams 65mph. Solos can go 63 on pedal teams I believe it's 68 on pedal. But the office nazis will ##### at you for overspeed if you go more than 5% of the time over the 60-65mph. You can idle all you want when it's above 70 degrees or below 20 degrees, but your fuel economy affects your bonus, so the more you idle the less likely you get bonus. Taking the truck home depends on how far you are from a Schneider facility.

 

Ok appreciate the info, how is schneider about getting you home. I'm looking at going regional out of school. I live near Burlington, NC I think ill be running out of the charlotte terminal

 

When I want time at home I send a message to my Business Leader that says I want these days off and that a certain date would be last day worked and I would be available on another date at another time. An example....My oldest came to visit and my youngest who is my codriver wanted to be home for Halloween. I requested Home time from 26-30 October. I said my last day available would be 25 Oct and we would be available 31 October at 2100. I arrived back home at 1100 on the 25th like clockwork. I sent the request four days before needing the time off.

You can take 6 days a month and still stay within tolerance for the quarterly bonus. They don't like to give a bunch of days off in a row so most drivers take 3 days off every 14 days.

There are great opportunities around where you live. Go to Schneiderjobs.com and look around. Experienced in the job description just means you have three months experience so don't let that scare you away.

Some of the recruiters suck. They aren't trying to deceive you but some of them are right out of college and just don't know. If your not happy with the recruiter assigned to you ask for another one or contact Softail or myself and we can give you a number to a better recruiter.

 

Not sure if teams is different, but Solo Regional you get 2 days off after 14 on. Additional days at one off for every 7 on can be accrued. You can take more, but it impacts your bonus, as stated.
