I got scheduled for my training in 3 weeks with Schneider, dedicated CA AZ NM. Touch freight paying me $175 per day, no experience. I already have my cdl. And I just got local offers driving straight trucks paying me $150 per day plus overtime home daily. What would you do?
I'd take the buck and a half. You'll drop $25 a day more or less on the road. I'd hem up what overtime pay looks like and when it begins (probably after 40 hours), but yeah, I'd take the local gig
For the local gig what is the opportunity for wage growth? If in 5 years you will only be making $160 a day, then go to Schneider, get some experience and look for career advancement.
150 per day plus overtime. What does that mean. Are you paid by the hour,or is it a salary job. Sounds like a 750 a week salary job to me. Wouldn't count on any overtime no matter What they say. They put that 150 per day there for a reason. Too keep from paying overtime. There's no other reason. If the job required less than 40 hours, they would Just pay you by the hour. So let's say 750 a week gross. After taxes, health insurance, and any other deductions, You got 625 bucks in your pocket. Per week. You can't afford your own apartment in a major city. Don't forget to add in the time it takes to commute Back and forth everyday, and take x amount out of You check for gas everyweek. In a year you'll still make box truck money. In a year with Schneider you'll make twice as much. And if your greedy, you can get even more money From someplace else. Start at the top, get the experience in a big truck, Then go down to a box truck if you want too. Those box truck jobs are always gonna be there. Only one problem with my suggestion. Once you get used to class A money, you Won't even consider that box truck again.
That’s true I can make more money in the future driving the big trucks. The job pays by the hours I just calculated $18 x 8 plus hours per day. But Schneider say they will payment $175 per day. Probably I Will get truck aholics. Life is short I almost died 6 months ago.
