Started orientation in Phoenix on Aug 3rd and finished on the 5th. Had to wait for the drug test results to come back before they would place me with a trainer, results were back on Mon the 8th and have a trainer come to pick me up tomorrow. Orientation was long and boring, going over policies and such. Lunch was provided, choice of about 8 meals from the food truck that comes into the terminal. Even if you have a DOT card they still do their own with their own in house doc. Urine and hair drug tests, rest of the physical is very simple no physical work test. We are supposed to be paid salary from the time we start orientation till we test out at $550 a week, tomorrow is pay day so we will see how it works. Will update more as things progress.

Tell your trainer to wake you up to back.

You're lucky. Was it the Spanish girl who brought the food? She's AWESOME

Yes trainer picked me up from the Phoenix terminal a little over a week ago. He runs mostly the I-5 in California and occasionally takes a load out to phx. Learning as much as I can, backing is still a #####.

Well its done. Trainer got a message on the Qualcomm yesterday saying to bring me back to the Fontana terminal as they were ready to complete my training. Got in this morning and started the process, more paperwork, CBT's (computer based training), and a road test. Never fails doing things good for a while but put someone in the passenger seat watching my every move I'm bound to screw up. Nothing big, evaluator gave me some pointers and passed me. Meet with fleet assignment and got a 2016 Pete. It's been a challenge but seems worth it and glad to be promoted to the bottom bunk.
