There's lots of these things on eBay for dirt cheap and these are noise cancelling but they will not work on a Cobra 29 only export radios.

Ok good catch.
I haven't seen them for a while but I think they dumped a crap load on the market so I see them on eBay now.
What do you mean they won't work in a 29?
The one I have is dynamic 100 ohm mic, no phantom power needed. -
The one I got has no provision for a receive wire in the switch .
Other versions might, but not sure. -
Ok I got it, I actually looked at what I have, I've got three of them and several hand sets. I used them on relay switched radios so I didn't think about the fourth wire, but that can be fixed with a little mod.bored silly and rabbiporkchop Thank this.

Well how about sharing the mod please?rabbiporkchop Thanks this.

It's a relay that is put into the radio, rewiring the switching circuit to use the relay instead of the ground and just ground the relay through the mic plug to activate it, it is an old old trick that works.

I guess that explains what that mysterious relay was doing in my old President Grant back in the eighties.
